Matt And Mag Buy, Demolish House Across The Street

At least they got a permit.

House on the right is the Dohertys’.  The one on the left, now also the Dohertys’, is gone.

Deed here.

No word yet on what they are planning to put there.

3-So what? Has nothing to do with any of us. They own the property. The Dohertys can do what they choose. It seems to me the thinking on this blog is…Let’s continue to keep Matt and his family in the limelight so we can continue to criticize them and butt into their business. Let’s keep stirring the pot about the Doherty family. This information about the house is encouraging negative comments. Comments 1 and 3 are negative remarks. I’m sure there will be more to come..focusing on such a practice is hurtful, regardless of who is in the center f it. And 3, both Matt and Maggie have good incomes. Who tells you how to spend your money, #3?

Yes, they have good incomes on the heels of the taxpayers. I would bet fat Matt hasn’t worked in months due to corona virus, not that he ever worked a day in his life. He is a loser who only survives because of his wife’s connections.

#4 Who tells you how to spend your money? Matt does, He shoved Millions of dollars of debt down our throats thereby forcing us to pay higher taxes. I think the people on this blog don’t appreciate that and would like to see him move farther away than across the street. I feel my taxes are hurtful to my bank account!

#4 Getting an above average number of people agreeing with me. Gee I’m so sorry it’s hurtful. He was an above average bad mayor. You need to buy the house then finance the tearing down and rebuild. Takes a way above average income to support that effort. I’m on welfare and have zero extra money.

Another reason why people with loads of money shouldn’t be allowed into politics.800k for a knock down. They are not in touch with us peons that actually hurt when our property taxes go up. look at Murphy. Useless. Out of touch.

I don’t know the Doherty’s. They are neither friends or foes. I know that he was mayor. Why are his doings of interest or any of our business? And you published the deed? Isn’t that a bit much? I don’t get it. Everyone, get a life, and worry about how you spend your money. What are you trying to prove? I agree with # 4. People who don’t like Doherty now have a way of expressing their feelings. Keeping it going is like a get-even tactic, for whatever reason. #1 comment broke the ice. Administrator, you don’t live in Belmar, right? What is the point?

#9 and #4 agreed. This seems a little ridiculous to be put up. As for some of the other comments, same old haters on everything, but the truth is taxes in belmar didn’t go up in eight years at some point they were going to increase, but you had many years without an increase. Most people coming in to belmar are buying and building single family homes, and most lots are expensive and people who have the ability to buy and build only help our community, the boroughs tax rateables increase due to new construction and the increased value. That will help your community and the borough not hurt it.

This is what I know about the sale Matt approaches Mrs Collins to buy house for his mother in-law she asks you are not going to tear it down are you he says no we love it just the way it is so she agrees to sell it to him now Mrs. Collins is devastated, yes Matt as owner has every right to do what he wants to the house he is the rightful owner and there was no written agreement to not tear it down but as you read this you are not shocked at all because that is the type of person Matt is “it is and always will be about Matt” the end true story.

28-Find new interests, get a hobby, read War and Peace. We have to keep an eye on him?? Maybe detective work is your speed. How would what Doherty does with his property impact your life? I’m still laughing at “We have to keep a wary eye on him.” He’s not in the public eye anymore! There are strict rules and regulations about razing and building here in Jersey. This whole “conspiracy theory” has me in convulsive laughter! (Oh, by the way, let’s make sure Matt parks his car in the lines.) watch a Colombo movie , or a Perry Mason movie for some hints. And your innuendos about him are way out of line.

#28 Thank you. Those who defend the former mayor and those who think he was less than swell shall always be opposed. Let’s see how many and what kind of variances he applies for. It would be just dandy if he were building a house for his mother-in-law, but from that guy I have learned to expect the worst.

30-LET’s be sure to check on how many variances Matt needs. Are you for real? Why would that be any of your concern? This isn’t specifically municipal business. What could possibly be the worst? That he doesn’t plant grass seed on the property? Oh, let’s keep a “wary” eye out for wrong doings. From here on out, get a life that doesn’t revolve around Doherty’s personal business. If he paints his house chartreuse, and piles dog poop in his yard, then maybe you have just cause to be concerned.

Just cause it is interesting and engaging (although pointless) to participate in this thread, decisions about any anomalies on this property will be handled by that independent minded group, the zoning board. I suppose Judas had his coterie of believers.

#30- if he already has a permit to build then he has submitted and doesnt need a variance because its to code. If you arent asking for variance relief you do not need to go to the board. But you wouldn’t get a building permit to build something if you needed variance relief. I do not even know why I am engaging in this nonsense because half of you only want to complain and you dont listen to facts you make up your own. This thread and topic certainly falls under “trying to find and create a problem where none is”. very disappointed in the blog for this type of thing, usually even if I disagree I can respect the topic, this is really really out of line.
