“Doherty said it will be tabled and another version will be introduced at tonight’s meeting.”

Mayor Matt Doherty told MoreMonmouthMusings that the ordinance has nothing to do with his candidacy for Monmouth County Freeholder.”
******
“We started discussing these changes last August because the Republican candidate for Council did not have local party support and was having trouble raising money for his campaign,” Doherty said.

Doherty: Belmar’s new pay to pay law has nothing to do with his Freeholder campaign
Belmar Mayor Matt Doherty, left, is preparing to face off with Freeholder Director Tom Arnone, right, in the November election. Doherty said the relaxed pay to play law he is set to pass in Belmar has nothing to do with his Freeholder campaign. The Mayor and Council of Belmar has introduced an ordinance that would remove…

Started last year because he knew he was running this year. Duh!
I’m nauseous from all the spins being thrown out. Belmar .. new “Spin City.” Does anyone within or outside Belmar really believe anything he says anymore?
It’s that unwanted TOM’s fault that liquor licensed establishments get a green light in pay-to-play Belmar?
Do you still believe the FIRST Benghazi explaination too?
Let us not forget his 10 plans to fund the pavilions. Now we have no funding the entire 4.1 million bond is on the backs of taxpayers.
This public/private manipulation was in front of our faces all along. This train left the station November 2, 2012.
Doherty must practice telling jokes with a straight face in the mirror. He wants to give the Republican Party an even chance to campaign? I’m laughing here – now THAT is funny. Take your act to the Catskills, Mr. Mayor.
Lemme get this straight… Matt Doherty is changing a Belmar ordinance because a republican candidate wasn’t able to raise money for a campaign. That is funny as hell. Oh and by the way, it helps me, the mayor, raise money to run for Freeholder…lol
Everyone needs to take a good look at the last line of this. The statement about Ken Pringle shows exactly the kind of person Matt Doherty is. Listen Matt, Ken Pringle loved Belmar long before you even knew how to spell it. Long before you made those deals with Ashbritt or Ferreira and long before you started losing all these court cases.
And Matt has no gratitude, as Ken Pringle brought him around introducing him to residents as a mayoral candidate. Now he rudely slams his predecessor who opened the door for him while blazing ahead with his ambition.
PLEASEEEEEEE1 I have had enough of bad behavior to last the rest of my life.
I didn’t realize that Tom Burke was handcuffed by our ordinance last year when it came to raising money. How many times has the mayor used Tom Burke to explain away his reasoning? Too bad Tom goes along with it.
This is all so Matt can get union money.
12. Someone is not reading. Just sayin.
#8 Just about anybody will admit that no
matter what Ken Pringle did he never ever
did anything intentionally to hurt Belmar.
To bad he has to watch this mess go down.
We are in trouble people.
Mr Burke is 100% known as mat’s whipping boy. What a disgraceful predicament to be so misused in his twilight years by the mayor. Mr mayor and the police chief don’t act so rough at our meetings. Looks like this blog has shown the light and the answers.
Mr. Burke is in a bed of his own mak, I can show him how he was played, step by step.lems ( inoperatable) I hope, that even at this late date ( reading his recent post on his blog ) his attempts has resulted in failure. I could have told him that. Be it parking or Dempsey Park, he is one unelected but appointed voice. Maybe in rehab some day, I can go over with him how he got played step by step.
