New SID Sacked

At least for now

Shared with much gratitude to the Coast Star:

I suggest the Council pass a resolution to end any Borough involvement with the BBP and immediately stop collecting any special taxes on its behalf.  Let Public Works do the kinds of improvements the SID currently does, if they are needed, and let Tourism handle the special events (when they can resume.)

If business owners and commercial property owners want to voluntarily get together and re-start the Belmar Chamber of Commerce or something they should be free to do it, but right now Belmar’s businesses need cash more than they need anything the SID is doing for them.

Government like any other business is fluid, not static. Education is a great tool to make use of during this crisis.
