No Wonder We Drink

As the Keefes and Robertses prepare to move to the new “Home by Summer” house in Belmar, the condo owned by Teresa Keefe’s brother…where the family fled to after Sandy…is apparently on its way to foreclosure:

So is this really the best time to be buying a Cadillac?

No amount of money given to some folks can help them when their priorities and values are misaligned. Maybe this fellow could live in his car if there were no housing alternatives.

I think david is in pre-foreclosure becaus he stopped paying his mortgage 4 or 5 months ago because he just thought that the Home By Summer house would have been finishhed on june 1st so he could move into it with his mother and sister.

Not sure but to get into foreclosure I guess the mortgage was not paid while they were living there. There are still families paying to live elsewhere who have been displaced. Donated funds should have been provided to them also.

#3…What’s even worse is that I’m sure Ms. Keefe or Ms. Roberts is receiving a rental stipend or some sort of assistance toward’s housing thru Belmar and FEMA. She does report on the Belmar website that at time when Fundraiser started she had received 8 thousand dollars towards living expense’s. So with that being said, If that is the case where has that money been going if not to pay rent or mortgage.

Where david lives there was no sandy damage. So he was not entitled to any sandy money. When his sister and kids and mother moved in they had a bunch of donations with alot to shoprite gift cards and rental assistance.

And you wonder why the rest of us who were involved with that storm and were accused of turning off the electricity even though we had an electric bill with -0- usage could not get a gift card and watched what was happening to others. Somebody had something going I
Think it is pitiful. No good can come from any of this it is just a matter of waiting.

Someone should check the Shoprite in Lakewood to see if they can match gift card records. I believe there was an identifying number on each card.

Tulip,You are absolutely right. They had something going and they had the right connections.I can’t speak for Ms.Sperber but every one knows Ms.Keefe is lifelong family and friends with Kelly Williams and her father who worked for the boro for many years, along with the fact that Kelly Williams mom and Ms.Roberts have been best friends there whole life. And Ms.Keefe is lifelong schoolmates with April Claudio. That is just the start of Ms.Keefes connections to the town.

The Shoprite that issued the giftcards most likely should have a record of the numbers of the cards given to Borough Hall, however, Belmar, cited for poor accounting practices, probably did not record the number given to each person. That would be the only way to pinpoint a card to a person when used at a Shoprite if that person has an identifiable account at Shoprite via the customer card used at the same time as a giftcard, as I understand the process.

If you go on gofundme like david roberts did and look up Super Storm Sandy. And then refine the search to Belmar. You will find krista sperber asking for funds. She already raised 8780 thousand. If you search the donations you will find that council man tom brennan donated and you will also find jennifer and bart nicolay. Seems like the connections are becoming more clear.

#11 I am not talking about the Shoprite cards I am talking of the gift cards including amounts up to $500.00. I was given the run around and didn’t qualify my homeowners covered nothing. I had flood w/ Fema and that was it. I didn’t get back in my house until 2 weeks before Xmas. I was lucky I had relatives in Absecon and was traveling back and forth from there. Everyone has a story. They are all sad.

What I wonder after looking at Gofundme for Krista Sperber is she claims she needs to raise 100k to complete the work for her home, this was in December or 2014.A month later the HBS fundraiser starts. She has been collecting donations the entire time with the latest only being 2 months ago.1.Are you going to tell us all of those donated funds totaling 8780 went into the home and 2.In all the the press and coverage about what they have and what they needed to make its never once mentioned that either family was acccepting donations through any fundraising website at all. This was the first I heard or saw of this. And yet it is funny to me,she was claiming to need 100k,she raised 8780 through gofundme, the raising of her home was donated and the goal of HBS was supposedly met and her home still is not done. Please! I guarantee these people pocketed any of the funds they got through these fundraising sites. Not to mention anything that might have been sent directly to them from people just trying to help someone out.Disgusting!

Gift cards aside, I know someone who received a ‘grant’ from Belmar to reimburse him for repairs to his house. That list of recipients must be secret as well as the donors who contributed to that pool of money. There seems to have been a lot of money floating around here after the storm and I did not get any. All I found washed up was a plastic shovel.

Hi there. I’m here to clear things up again. I started the Go Fund Me months before I knew of any Home by Summer. I started it, as I said to help rebuild the house. After paying a mortgage, rent and storage fees, we were running out of time.

In regards to the amount, my Proof of Loss is for $255,000. I asked for help to raise $100k because it seemed more attainable and I hoped to be able to add RREM funds to cover the difference.

I am not disgusting. I am not pocketing. I am not profiting.

Did you really think I would do that?

I donated the money at least 6 months prior, about a month after my deposition when I hoped a settlement would be imminent. The mayoral campaign was ugly, and I wanted to help. It is the same amount my husband and I donated to Buy a Board, which I know you also hate.

I started the GoFundMe at the end of December. At that point, we were connecting with St Bernard Project and would have had a reduced cost of building. Also, we were going to have to move out of our winter rental. With no reasonable prospect of being able to pay for rent on top of mortgage & storage beyond the end of June, the push was on to get home somehow.

St Bernard bailed on my project once I got a verbal settlement from my insurance company. NOTE: I still do not have a settlement as of today.

We are very close to moving home. A month I hope. No,it wasn’t summer; but it’s way better then the other prospect of not knowing where we would live or if we would be able to keep paying the mortgage. We did everything right, yet we are getting screwed by a major corporation and the federal government. Seriously, you can hate this whole thing. But the truth is, this is the best thing that has happened in 3 years. The light at the end of the tunnel is not an oncoming train for once.

Just stop with the accusations. I’m just trying to get my family home. I took the help that was offered.

Disgusting is a very terrible word but how the hell can you ask for money and donate $500 to the person initiating your fundraiser. Please stop your actions speak much louder than your words. You were vacationing while raising funds to repair your home. It does not appear that you suffered as much as many did.

#21. Where is it you think I have been? This is not the first time this was brought up.

#23. Gofundme was never a secret. Quite the opposite in fact. I posted the link on my Facebook. Matt knew I started a gofundme, because I sent him the link to ask him to forward it. He never did. He came back to me with this idea instead, because he thought it would be more effective. And he was right. Remember, we had about 6 months before we would have to move again, for the 6th time. We could not afford to keep paying both mortgage and rent. We needed to start building ASAP.

For what it is worth, nearly every donation on my gofundme is from my family or very close friends.

What I funny is if you go on NJ.com for Feb 5th 2015 and look up Home By Summer. You will see a quote from Teresa Keefe that says the insurance ‘said we should just repaired instead of knocking it down, so they only gave us enough to repair it’ so why knock it down. I am sure that some of the engineers told Teresa Keefe that.

#24 Krista. Every time you come on here to defend yourself you catch yourself out there. So you are saying that you started a go fund me for yourself and then sent the link to the Mayor and asked him to send it around. And then that’s when he told you about the Home By Summer campaign. Two months before it actually started. The Mayor was OK with you collecting money from go fund me when he knew that you will be collecting donations from the Home By Summer campaign. Don’t sound right to me.

#25. The answer is fraudulent engineering reports. More than 90% of US Forensics reports were doctored to show no or little damage. My foundation was unsafe for use according to our engineer, yet the insurance company said it was fine and offered $600 to stucco over the cracks.

What is wrong with starting my own fundraiser, then someone helping to make it more successful? It’s not like the gofundme money me was enough to rebuild.
