Not Exactly Unexpected

Check of mayor’s Facebook this morning sees him talking about his favorite Belmar businesses.

Maybe he should be plugging the Waterview/Riverview Pavilion, a long time Belmar taxpayer who’s business is being undermined by the town now leasing out its own banquet hall on Borough-owned beachfront property.

Also worth noting this morning is that the Marina Grille has reached the 100 Yelp review milestone and still languishes at only 2 1/2 stars.

Here is a minor thing that actually was unexpected.

I’m on a business trip attending my company’s bi-annual 2 day managers’ conference in Mount Pocono PA.  Our main distribution center is located here.

I am staying at the Comfort Inn and was fortunate to get a room right next to a corridor exit so I can easily get outside to smoke.  This morning I was greeted by a little green frog hanging out on the side of the building.

Yes that’s my empty toothpaste box keeping the door from locking.

Anyway I’ll be in meetings all day today and tomorrow so during the day so all I can do is sneak looks at my phone to moderate comments.  I won’t be able to post anything new during working hours.

Transparency is opaque around this borough; God forbid I call it a town, city or burgh. I would not imply that the caterer is doing anything improper unless given a nod by someone. A contract is a contract. A venue is a venue, not synonymous with the occupier or user of the venue. I may perform at Carnegie Hall, hooray for me, but I am not Carnegie Hall.

Maybe the low star rating relates to Marina Grille robbing customers who pay cash at the bar? BEWARE all CASH PAYING customers – if you pay cash, they round up the tax to the nearest dollar (or on occasion $.25). They tax on top of the price of each drink (That’s a new one to me here). They claim that the reason is because they are a restaurant and not a bar (huh???) Oh, and they don’t have change smaller than a quarter. I wonder how much ‘spare change’ revenue they have raised since opening in April??
