Will Lawless Matt participate or recuse himself?? What a joke.
I guess this is supposed to take the place of the omitted public session of the last meeting, which was a reorganization and REGULAR meeting. See the first line of the agenda, at the top.
under HAPPY NEW YEAR, that is…
Is this a personal meeting hosted by mayor mcdirty on your dime? Hope he pays for all the Borough of Belmar exposes in order to put on his personal dog and pony show.
I would like to know at what Board of Ed meeting was this approved and will the town be paying the fees for staff to be on hand at the school?
The guy is a complete waste.
Fred and Willie will be guest hosts for the Meeting, Matt will not show up.
Not on my dime anymore! Facebook isn’t a valid MUNICIPAL notice and a “TOWN HALL” meeting on a Saturday just doesnt cut the regs.
Gotta ask Matt how he plans on running a town while he’s a conflicted mess.
Please do
I’ll be there with bells on.
I think that every single person that lives in this town, visits this website, has an honest to goodness problem with the way this administration governs, and wants to put the mayor and the council on the hot seat should be in attendance. That auditorium should be standing room only. This is an opportunity folks.
Tell em Tom,
I’m gonna speculate and say Mayor Matt plans on running for higher office again this year. This is a political event disquised as a town event. Don’t believe anything this man says. Besides, when was the rest of the council told about these plans for 2017 ?
Someone should videotape it so that everyone will see how he avoids the tough questions.
Don’t take children to school on Saturday. They need protection from people who spot-zone arcades.
The left has promised to protest and block the new president beginning with his inauguration. While Tom Fahy is inside the town hall meeting “with bells on”.Other may be more effective garnering more press and opportunities to voice objections using method that proved most effective outside Matt’s home last summer. Simply get a permit, make signs and be assured of freedom of speech. ( won’t happen effectively inside ). Just saying.
I’m going incognito. Don’t want them to raise my taxes higher.
Approval of the town hall meeting is on the agenda for this Tuesday’s BOE meeting.
and who pays for the staff to be on hand? taxpayers?
actually would like to re- ask my question – who pays for the staff -the Board of Ed or the town??
Aileen, please realize that there is absolutely no reason for this mayor to hold a “town hall” meeting at the school. This can very easily be done in the gym. It’s very ironic that this man wants to hold an informational Q & A at the school and will not even answer a question at his own Mayor and Council meetings. This is an absolute joke.
#18. Don’t fall for the after the fact approval for spending taxpayer monies on political agenda items.
#16 is right. Protesting is a healthy part of any democracy and can be very effective. And yes, definitely get permits
I’ll be inside because I want to ask direct questions to confront him and put him on the spot. I know that he’ll avoid, misdirect, mislead, ignore, and dance a jig. But it’s worth a try.
Tom: I have always felt that protest in a “democracy” are a waste of time since majority rules. Thank God we still live in a democratic “republic”. Protecting minority views and protests. While on the subject, The majority of Democrats recently wanted to abolish the electoral college. California would then decide who will be president. The legislator in California recently legalized child prostitution. Thank God again for our system.
California didn’t legalize child prostitution

Aileen I have a bridge to sell you in the everglades. Do you believe everything you read from liberal media, you probebly think Doherty is on the up and up.
Easy to get Senate Bill ( CA) 1322 online. states at beginning” This bill would make the above provisions( crimes and penalties for prostition enumerated in Bill ) inapplicable to a child under 18…” Therefore under this Bill signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown, a person under 18 cannot be arrested, charged, imprisoned or fined for such behaviors. Supposed to protect the child ( the victim). Pimps are celebrating.
Let’s stay on track folks. Don’t distract from Matt Dorehty using the public school for his own political forum. This from a guy who has so many pay to play violations he’s unable to vote or be held accountable to the public. He shouldn’t be on or near the planning board. Another violation! Stay focused here in Belmar. Don’t go off into Dem vs Repub land or California!! Focus focus focus!!!!
Ask a lot of embarrassing questions. For example, did Matt apologize to the sign protest kid whom he and his ilk humiliated? The sign was right, the mayor is a LOSER!
the Belmar Borough gymnasium was good enough for Governor Christie’s town hall meeting …. at least we were spared powerpoints and video …. the school district shouldn’t be burdened with heating the auditorium for this show.
28. You go girl! Keep your eyes on the prizes. We are a bipartisan borough and want to stay that way.
Divide and conquer only does that, divides. Back to basics in Belmar.
I’m going to pass on this dumb thing. All it’ll be is one yes-men/women getting up and asking him softball questions such as have you ever kicked a puppy and Matt will answer that no, he’s never kicked a puppy and as a matter of fact, he has some very close friends who are puppies and even in his college days, was tutored by a brilliant puppy and owes everything he’s ever achieved (whatsoever that may be) in life to that puppy, etc., etc., etc.
There is no good reason given for having this ‘event’ held at the school. So everyone go to the Tuesday Bd of Ed meeting and let them know you object to having it held there. Get off your keyboards and your duffs and let them know that ,in the absence of a compelling reason, the school is an inappropriate location for the Mayor’s dogs and ponies to show up. It is entirely within the bd of eds power to deny permission for use of the school and they should.
I am seeing if my contacts can get news 12 and channel 2 to come and film the events highlights.
From the Belmar website calendar about the meeting on the 14th:
Email questions to the mayor ahead of time at mayor@belmar.com
He will pick and choose what he wants to spin.
Demanding questions ahead of time is so inappropriate and whimpy. What a jerk. what are you afraid of? Truth?
So there will be no questions from the audience, only selected questions? If thats the case we should boycott and the only ones that will show will be Claire and her friends.
League of Women voters required cards printed at their candidate nights on their paper.
Also, don’t forget Hilowwie received questions from liberal, crooked media prior to Presidential debate. Mcdirty following lofty example?
#34. They will probably prohibit other media coverage because of they have their own paid, controlled videographer.
Matt lost ,Hillary lost. If you cant figure out how to win get out of politics. Matt a bit of advice keep doing the same thing as you have and you will get the same result.
2:10 P.M. Monday, January 9, 2017, the mayor’s sidewalk has not been cleared of snow and ice. Is a fine warranted?
#18 has given you the key, a heads up that the use of the school is still open to question until approval is granted on Tuesday night. If enough people put their complaints in front of the bd it is entirely possible that the mayor’s little plan to run a controlled show will be torpedoed. Using the school facilities for what is essentially a political event is bad precedent and the bd of ed should be discouraged from opening that can of worms. They should be encouraged to avoid what will likely result in politicizing the use of their premises even if they think this ‘town hall’ is innocuous. Go to the meeting, complain so they don’t think you condone this use of the facility. Let the mayor use town hall or rent private space at his own expense.
#37 Voter2-Since you continue to post my name, and previously commented on my quotes, I decided to continue with this same theme…….the following quote is from a poet named John Donne-and English poet who lived in the 15th century-Ernest Hemingway used part of the quote many years later for a title of his book…….:”Do no send to know for whom the bell tolls…..it tolls for thee…” these are thought-provoking words…..hope they have meaning for you, Voter 2!
#42 – Sir, it is my humble opinion that it is Matt, who is falling in with the wrong crowd when it comes to having anything to do with that idiotic outfit down at the “school.” While I agree that Matt is no saint, he’s nowhere near as bad as those “people.”
“If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”
“Dies Irae” for scofflaws is likewise applicable.
Rodney King: “Can we all just get along?”
John Donne is done ;what’s done is Donne.
A move may be afoot to conduct all meetings on Saturdays so they will be convenient for interested parties? Planding Board, Zonine Board, etc. Hmmm, could be paid counsel for each weekday meeting doesn’t want to travel back and forth at night?
Saturdays could be even more “hectic” for many potential meeting attendees who work Monday to Friday and use the weekend for other matters, like yard work, grocery shopping, etc. A weekday evening at 7:00 instead of 6:00 for a Mayor and Council meeting would be better – a person could come home from work, assuming she/he is a 9 to 5er, have dinner, then amble over to Borough Hall and listen to the baloney. Since the mayor does not seem to have to report anywhere to work, the meeting day or time should not matter much to him. People, Not Politics, right?
