Check out the Assembly bill # 1850 sponsor’s homes, there are no Djais pukers, pissers, pugelistic lawn prizefights or drug pushers on the prowl outside their doors! They probably have gun permits as well.

Tavern Owner’s dilemma. Give $$$ to stop the progress of # 1850?

While you’re at it tell them the GAS TAX HIKE stinks and the cost of your food will in effect skyrocket if any of them vote Yes.

The donations aside, who cares if licenses are extended? Seasonal licenses are bizarre to begin with, as is the fact the some places are BYOB and some aren’t.

    just my thinking…..

Mr Brian, to answer your question, here are a quick 10

1)The year round license holders paid a higher price then the seasonal. It’s unfair to reduce the value of their license only to give a greater value to license holders that happen to make donations to politicians. Buy a year round if you want to server year round. 10th Ave did.

2)The beach front is not zoned for year round alcohol. D’Jais had a year round but the town exploded when Doherty wanted to change the zoning to year round on the beach front. The state is doing this so no blame can be assigned to the council or mayor.

3)BYOB are for eateries, not nightclubs. Eateries close at 11:00. Nightclubs close at 2:00 AM

4)D’Jais has more police calls & police presence than any other bar in Belmar. Extending the season for them won’t reduce this.

5)The citizens of Belmar should have a say in whether an alcohol establishment is going to open close to them. Same should be said with extending a season. Allow the people affected by the change to have a say.

6)Do you support Monmouth County changing the amount of liquor licenses in Hudson County Jersey City? Shouldn’t be happening.

7)D’Jais has been proven to being politically connected and actively manipulating of local elections. These officials vote and act as the alcohol control board of D’Jais’s licenses every year. The reason given for the change (it benefits small businesses) is false. The fox is controlling the hen house by owning politicians. Should not be allowed. (Pay to Play)

8)For 6 years my quality of life has deteriorated (4th district). This year, especially of Tuesday night, the lack of enforcement at 2 am made for a lot of miserable Wednesday mornings. Allowing more bars to server alcohol longer will not help this problem.

9)Once a seasonal license is 9 months, next year a bill will come and why not make it year round? If it helps the business by adding 3 months, why not do it again? By state law it is only 1 license for every 3000 people. Why are we trying to add more (almost) year round licenses when we are already over stacked as a town?

10)The seasonal licenses have been in effect for over 50 years with no problems. Why all of a sudden, since Matt Doherty is mayor, do they have to change?

Perhaps the legislators could lump this Bill in with the Gas Tax Bill, in hopes to get them both passed. I guess politicians are just “generally” inept at all levels. And we complain here in little Belmar? The Peter Principle is alive.
