Promo Vid Makes Me Want To Come Back

Not really.

It is nicely done though.

Funny how the only Belmar public officials shown in the video happen to be the two Republican Councilmen running for re-election. And except for a “Welcome to Belmar” from a badge checker, Jim McCracken is the only person in the video who speaks. He is also the only person in the video who is identified.

BTW, McCracken and Carvelli also happen to be the two Councilmen that are very very proactive on the issue of pedestrian safety.

Doherty all over again-what a joke. I guess we’ll be hearing codes red/blue/green/purple etc. from these 2 guys too.

McCracken/Carvelli using pedestrian safety to promote your campaign makes me sick. Why haven’t you had a roundtable discussion with the seniors at 710 8th Ave ? Listen to their concerns and suggestions to improve safety at the crosswalk? Jim Bean has done this and more!
Why is it okay to install concrete barricades in the middle of 8th Ave ( a state road!) from Main Street to rr during Seafood Festival yet not okay
to install same barricades along both sides of the easement on 8th Ave. Make this area one lane…it will slow down traffic and improve safety for pedestrians using the crosswalk. Get permission from the state. Give this a try! Be proactive!

This is clearly a campaign video. Was it paid for by the taxpayers under the guise that it is simply a tourism ad? This is exactly the kind of crap that Doherty and the merry misfits used to pull.
Guys (McKracken & Carvelli), if you read this blog, please do not do this stuff. This is exactly the kind of ham handed nonsense we had to deal with for the last 8 years. It will also lead to a defeat at the polls. The voters of this town have had years or slick production pieces and tax payer funded propaganda from the last administration and we can spot it a mile away. You are making a HUGE mistake by trying to use these tactics. You also run the risk of backlash from the business owners that, I’m sure, never agreed to appear in a campaign video.
This next election is yours to loose. You do not need this. Matt and Jen and Brian and Tom have ensured a republican path to victory for the next two or three election cycles. All you need to do is good old fashioned retail politics. Knock on doors, meet people, show that you are serious about cutting the budget to pay for the last administrations lies and misdeeds. The democratic candidates have the Doherty albatross around their necks and cannot win unless you two keep practicing the slimy and financially dubious bull feces that did HIM in.
    Please listen to this advice.

We survived Doherty and we are making strides in the right direction with the current Administration. Best Professional Business Plans require 5 years at the very least. Tactical Dispositions are needed and I choose to do what’s best, in my mind, for Belmar.

Noreen, I believe sometimes we get the party confused with the ideology. Financial decisions had to be made to fix past problems but the letter behind a person’s name seems to be the determination of what is acceptable or not. If McGovern put forth a 21% tax increase with an 8.5% spending increase (APP’s numbers not mine) you and I would be outraged.

Come Nov, there will be a candidate that stood with and for the Belmar Republican party and its ideal for over 10 years on the ballot. If you don’t believe another tax increase will be coming next year, I disagree with you. I was the one that told everybody how bad it was and vote against the budgets (Mayor Walsifer vote yes on them). I’m telling you more has to be done, because more problems are coming. Who do you want voting on the next tax increase? Someone who always fought for the people’s interest or someone who voted to increase taxes and borough spending?

If supporting Republican candidates that supported Doherty, supported the pavilion scam and then voted for a 21% tax increase while starting to behave like past elected officials is your cup of tea, go for it.

I’m the only candidate running that didn’t contribute to this mess.

18 – Because the Mayor and Council hid behind an existing, and flawed, ordinance and did not step in and say NO to the construction of the “awning” which protrudes and obstructs the sidewalk. By the way, the “awning” looks more like a “structure” and should have required zoning board approval before it was approved by the zoning and construction official. THEY JUST DON’T LISTEN!

I’m really not one to bitch but that awning thing at Flames is BS. It’s now a single file sidewalk. Terrible job by the Mayor and Council. And if it was ok because Doherty changed the ordinance then the stupidity should have been changed by the new administration.
