Found this on the Belmar Democrats Facebook page this morning.
In the past the mayor sought input from the people before picking one of his friends. I don’t recall hearing anything about it this time. Have I missed something?
I told you so Tom Burke. Get on planning Board volunteer on all the organizations, societies and clubs AND all you had to do was get handouts from the mayor, say a few nice things and basically stay at home every week AND you become “Citizen of the Year”. How’s that workin for ya fella?
This gentleman has only praise for the mayor, expressed at Mayor and Council meetings. Who will it be next year? That Brendan guy who rents an apartment?
They are rewarded as they are Claire’s helpers coning the seniors in the senior building who to vote for before they mail in the ballot.WE will be watching. this year there will be no more shenanigans, got it Claire!
Stop the generalizations and stereotyping about seniors at 710 8th Ave. Not ALL the seniors are freeloaders!
Many seniors volunteer not only at Belmar events but also for non profit organizations, the vets, Rescue Ridge, SPCA, Homes for Our Troops, etc.
Stop your hateful unsubstantiated comments.

You are probably speaking of a handful that are volunteers. However, coercing someone to vote a certain way when their faculties are not 100% is wrong, im sure you would agree with that. I bet if we took an independent poll asking who is the president you might be surprised.
#10…Obviously if they have dementia or Alzhmier’s they do not know members of their family, let alone who is the President. I do agree it is wrong coercing anyone to vote…. whether they live in senior housing, apartments, or houses. Your remarks are insulting, demeaning, and denigrating to ALL seniors in Belmar. There is so much bitterness, anger, and hate. It is time to end it.
#11- Missy???? Are you really Clare using a new pen name? I am a sane Belmar Senior. I don’t feel insulted or demeaning at all. And yes it is time to end it…. one by one, two by two, vote out the whole panel of crooked council people and mayor.
#11 Either you are not aware of what is going on in Belmar with reference to the Mayor being continuously sued for violating civil rights, along with last year’s Democratic padding of mail in votes by Seniors and D’Jais. You are correct we are bitter and angry that we do not have an honest Mayor and Council if you don’t agree bug off, you are obviously one of his supporters!
Missy – Then vote the present administration out because they are the reason there is so much division in our town. Doherty rides Sandy like it was a prized stallion. He forgets many were not helped during Sandy myself included. I am sick of him using Sandy as his platform. He did nothing more that every other mayor in all towns affected.
Vote him out he is the name caller and started all the nastiness in town. The “element, trouble makers, obstructionist, terrorists, naysayers, against recovery” amongst many more nasty labels. All residents deserve to be heard. After 3 years, yes it has gotten nasty on both sides residents are angry he is wasting our money. Doherty is not good for our town. That and the fact he has no significant employment aside from transient positions. He has no idea what he is doing. All his private deals have hurt our town. He has created 49 million dollars in debt unlike any other shore community. None, have accumulated the amount of debt that Belmar has. So yes it is not kind to insult seniors, or anyone but residents are angry. Instead of defending seniors, really help them and vote Lawless Matt Doherty out.
Stop the nonsense. It helps no one. Turn those lemons into lemonade tomorrow. The voting booth will tell the real story and hopefully their will not be messenger mail in ballots.
We will prevail if we are ethic, have integrity and qualitis of kindness too.

Wonderful …. Gene got icing on his cake.
Liaison to the freebie, gimmee, I deserve it crowd.
How sleazy and slimy can Claire and her crew get. I think they closed down the wrong Duncan Donuts!
#4 I bet none of the seniors with the mail in ballots know who Obama is, and they certainly do not know who Matt is even if he stepped on their foot.
