I have to say that the response to the photos and videos of some of the things people have to put up with in their neighborhoods has been amazing. Many comments have come in about the situation and there have been several eyewitness accounts of bad behavior shared with us. Also, the hit counts have been very high these last few days:
On top of that, I’ve received a lot of email about it including this:
The “tips” page for the website the writer is referring to is linked to here.
Obviously there is a lot of frustration out there. My sense is that people feel that public complaints to the Council about it will fall on disinterested ears, and, with this administration, could result in some kind of retribution down the road. So I’m happy to provide an anonymous way, or not anonymous if you choose, to let the Council and the public know what’s going on and know about the high level of public dissatisfaction over the increasing lack of civility of the visitors that the Council and the Tourism Commission work so hard to attract here. Personally I liked Belmar better when it had smaller buildings and smaller crowds.
So what I’ve decided to do for the remainder of this summer is set up a page dedicated to residents’ stories, photos and videos of bad behavior. I’m not sure how to do it though. I could create a page for it but you can’t comment to a page. Maybe I can change that. Anyway, I’m going to work on it tonight.
BTW, I heard our lifeguards won a big contest yesterday. Congratulations lifeguards and thank you for what you do.

The police make money, and few of them live in Belmar, so this is just a job. Why would young cops not want more money and overtime. The solutions is laws and ordinances. Personally I liked Belmar better when it had smaller buildings and smaller crowds.Raise the beach tags fee.
This is how they handle it down south. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3676623/I-shoot-f-guys-right-Senior-navy-official-filmed-pointing-gun-young-men-outside-Washington-home-drunk-making-noise.html
#1 Laws and ordinances are meaningless without enforcement. And who enforces in Belmar? The fox guarding the henhouse, etc.
I am going to go watch Charles Bronson in Death Wish now.
I am moving to New York, actually safer, in my opinion.

How about some misleading advertising? The so-called Anchor “Eatery” according to the menu distributed around town recently, has Anchor TAVERN on prominent signage at its location on Main at 8th Avenue. One goes to a tavern to drink, eating is secondary, if at all. This place was pitched as an eating establishment originally, to get approval, now it is just another place to tie one on. When I walked past there a couple of days ago, the outdoor drinkers were loud, as expected for a tavern. Council members, how about that, huh? Duped again, sure!
Anchor Eatery is on 13th Ave. I don’t think they are related.
Toilet cracked open at 314 16th warrants health evacuation by code enforcement, yes?
Nerve stricken: We now have to figure out whether the revenue from ticket issued in beach sectors areas go back to the beach utility as a reimbursement for police budget monies taken from the beach utility as beach related attractions? Circles within circles equal circles.
#8 Thanks. That is the place that always has a new name.
