Stuck With The SID

The SID budget passed last night by a 3 to 2 vote with Bean and Magovern in the minority.

Okay, the council has voted to continue the Special Improvement District for another year. I disagreed, but, accept the decision of the council majority.

It seems to me now would be a good time for those in the BBP to reach out to those who have been critical of it, and take the opportunity to develop some common ground. All parties have the same interest, that being to make Belmar a better community by developing and maintaining diligent businesses and prosperous commercial district.

Spring Lake went down the same path and now the tax payers are paying for the bills for CID.Someone should look into that mess.

The SID budget passed and hopefully they have trimmed the fat. I believe that the SID must improve all the areas that are located in the commercial district. They cannot tax all commercial property owners and spend only on Main Street. The SID people mean well, however they need to understand that if you take someone’s money, you need to be held accountable.
