The Committee Hearing

Much thanks to the volunteer who taped this for us.

I haven’t watched it yet but I understand there are going to be changes allowing more local control before it is passed on to the full Assembly. Please watch and correct me if I’m wrong.

Thank you to the gentlemen who called a spade a spade. “Bill from D’Jais stands to make alot of money on this right?”. Your election funds stand to make a lot of money on this, right?” Good point. Good point.

When will someone say something about the current dune system this town has in place. the winter time dunes are stupid and have been put up way too early this year. a dune system like bradley beach has should considered. natural dunes look better and can provide many more benefits than the current situation

I realize it has nothing to do with post but #2 is correct. The makeshift dune is a waste of time and money. In order for dunes to be beneficial there needs to be a cohesive system of plants and sand.Piling sand up isn’t such a system. Dumb idea

Much thanks to Chairman Danielsen who is obviously in favor of letting the local administrations control these things.

Now if only our local administration was willing to….

Following the SEA GIRT rational there is absolutely no reason to further burden the taxpayers of Belmar. One free day for food and drink doesn’t pay your mortgages or taxes.

Wouldn’t you pay $15,000 to make $100,000 across the bar and then, to boot, you get to write off your $15,000 political donation as a tax deductible item on your Federal and State taxes. Oh, and then you get FREE Security Services far exceeding your local property tax assessment.

The Great Wall of Belmar is kind of ridiculous in that every kid who has ever built a sand castle too close to the ocean knows that loose sand will do nothing to hold back moving water. If anything it will prevent the water from receding once it is breached. That’s how the kids get a cool little pool to temporarily frolic in. In addition people on the boardwalk will be unable to spot someone in the water who is in distress. The good points are that it’s a great sleigh riding venue when it snows. I made it almost to the ocean a couple times. It’s also great for beach privacy if one wishes to be alone to do yoga or whatever and doesn’t appreciate an audience.
The Great Wall has some good points but protecting us from Mother Nature is just not one of them. I suppose if it makes people feel better it has some virtue. I wish I could live in a state of feel good symbolism that an unsupported sand wall can provide but unfortunately I’m hardwired to live in reality.

The ocean waves can take out boardwalks and pavilions but our sand has magical powers and acts like kryptonite against ocean water. Come on people you just have to believe.

Only tangled Vegetation, within sand dunes, will anchor the sand on a beach. Follow the tides and you will learn what happens to sand. It’s an open book for all.
Without the anchoring vegetation in sand dunes it’s a hopeless battle against nature keeping the Atlantic Ocean at bay.
