This is great news. More losing lawsuits for the Republicans to mention in their Ads. Matt must be in self destruct mode.
Maybe Chefs International will chip in to pay the legal fees. On the side, of course, like the deals are usually made. Gee, that Buy a Board money is still floating around somewhere – why not use that? The SALT premise could be considered to be an accoutrement to a boardwalk, like at the marina, no? Just thinking creatively here.
Matt Doherty continues to cost the taxpayers of Belmar dearly.
More lawsuits = more aspirins
So not only will be pay these ridiculous fees for our clear illegal behavior to the Harmons. Hopefully they prevail in the civil rights violation too and we pay the Harmons legal fees. Belmar residents are idiots and don’t care how much we pay anyone. As long as the bars are open. Idiots living in Belmar and visiting as “tourists” HA
What’s matt’s failed law suites have cost the tax payers! Worse, he does not care one little bit!
WHEN DOES IT END WITH THIS BOZO AND OUR MONEY ? CLAIRE MUST BE REALLY PROUD OF HER LITTLE BOY !!!!
I been bringin beers to the LAW SUITES. who drinks fine SCOTCH – if you PAYIN homie.
Otherwise Bacardi is cool with your homie. Comin from NORTH JERSEY to rep Belmar JES like GIBBONS!!! Make sure them girls WEARIN ribbons.
The law firm does a lot of white collar defense work. This is more serious than just a political connection. They will hammer out an agreement with which the Harmon Brothers cannot discuss anything they know or have opinions of in order to receive the settlement. This will never get to court.
Any settlement will be OPRAed and published.
Good lawyers doesn’t mean that they have to cost a lot but none of that matters to politicians. If Belmar’s insurance covers this type of lawsuit, it may be paying for this Firm. Belmar must be quite nervous about this lawsuit. #5, in my opinion your statement is much too general of a position to take calling everyone idiots.
Imagine the lawyers Matt can afford after the property tax re-assessment. Higher property values more equity to borrow on. Let us all celebrate us ( Matt’s golden calf).
I think it’s time for walfisor and vallario to start adding up all the wasted money on lawyers that our tax dollars pay for. Start getting the word out beyond the “element naysayer terrorist”. I’m sad to say a positive happy campaign is impossible in Belmar! Publicize all of the past petitions, lawsuits terrible ordinances. Remember our council voting to force union labor? Or combining lake como and pavilion bond forcing another petition with the lie it would save us so much money. Or the lie we are getting 5.4 million from FEMA? Or changing pay to play ordinance to the benefit of Matt Dorehty? Then hiring some out of town law firm to defend their actions? Now this? How much will this fiasco cost us, the taxpayer? They make terrible decisions and you and I pay for it
Off topic… 23 cent per gallon gasoline tax increase!!! How do we, if employee of companies, get reimbursed for this ridiculous, burdensome tax in gas and vehicular monthly reimbursement if I use my car for work in order to sustain my family in NJ. Do I get to deduct an additional 23 cents per gallon of fuel used on my Federal and STNJ tax return?
Did Joy get the FEMA emails yet ?
Joy did not receive any records yet.
William Shakespeare’s
Henry VI, Scene 4
“The first thing we do, kill all the lawyers.”
Wow , any reason given ?
WEE WILLUE, NOT my lawyer, thank you very much! Ethical and with integrity are the qualities I require before hiring any professional.
When an insurance company defends you, they use their attorneys. We are paying for these guys.
matt, stop being such a flaming ass. stop doing things that cause litigation and stop appealing stuff you don’t win. you are being a jerk at our expense! Get some morality man! how do you look at yourself in the mirror?
Was any information ever received about the settlement between the borough and former lifeguard Jeff Zach? I recall some pretty interesting allegations in the coast star a while back
BELMAR — The lawsuit filed against the borough, here, on behalf of former employee Jeffrey Zach has been settled for $50,000.
The case was scheduled to be heard last month, but the trial was adjourned. The court did conduct a settlement conference and, as a result, the Borough of Belmar and Mr. Zach were able to resolve their differences, according to the defendants’ attorney Ron Lueddeke, of the Lueddeke Law Firm in Spring Lake.
Coast Star June 2015
#20, sounds like the policy limit (pay out) had been reached. Risk management might have suggested private counsel in addition to policy limits… as the stomach turns. blah, blah, blah.
Lueddeke as in BILL of DJAIS fame and fortune?
we started with a beautiful beach …. and now we have a attorney sandbox.
That’s a good one Eugene.
Gene I wish we could pay them in Sand. Thanks Dave for the news in Belmar! The article is ominous and I think this is going to cost the taxpayers of Belmar a wee bit more than a special election. Claire any chance of coming out of retirement and setting the record straight?
I hear there are a couple more lawsuits, We residents know nothing about. Belmar keeps a lot under the rug. #GOIRISH
Tort claim notice can be obtained via OPRA
What is going on with the pavilions?
If Pringle stopped suing the town as a way of fighting in his vendetta against Matt, the borough wouldn’t waste so much money on lawyers.
#32 Did you get the kool aid at d’jais?
@32. Don’t you dare try to blame Doherty’s repeated losses in court on a vendetta.
I didn’t file my first lawsuit until May of 2013, more than half way through his first term, and only after he illegally tried to make the beach a redevelopment area. (If he had gotten away with that, we’d have 4 buildings on the beachfront right now that look like the ugly monstrosity being built in the marina redevelopment area).
He and the members of the Council — and those like you, Anonymous, who continue to make excuses for their bad decisions, illegal and vindictive actions and repeated violations of people’s civil rights — are the ones who are responsible for the Borough’s soaring legal expenses and liabilities for my firm’s fees, which are only starting to be awarded. And don’t even get me started on what their actions against the Harmons are going to cost us.
The lawsuits will stop as soon as we elect Councilmembers who will insist that the Borough obey the law.
Ken Pringle has my gratitude. I don’t know the guy, but he has been looking out for all of us. Thank you very much.
The above comment is not from Ken Pringle. The writer just used the name as the title of the comment.
#32 If you are interested in playing the lawyer name game here we go. Pringle SUCCESSFULLY defended the rights of Belmar residents to petition. Pringle SUCCESSFULLY defended Belmar residents and beach goers’ civil rights. Pringle SUCCESSFULLY defended Belmar residents from abuses of redevelopment law. Pringle SUCCESSFULLY defended Belmar voters against misleading statements issued by Belmar. CJ Giffin SUCCESSFULLY caused the Borough of Belmar to turn over illegally withheld records to a resident. Dupont Northgrave & McGill have cost the taxpayers defending the Borough against it’s own residents. It looks like McLauglin will defend the rights of a Belmar businessmen vs Cooper PC Defending the actions of the Belmar administration. This will sure to be VERY costly and if you’re interested in the correct application of the term “vendetta” you might want to stay tuned as this one unfolds. Keep reading Common Sense and thanks for your comments.
#32 Maybe you can take the antidote. Called common sense.. available right here.
Isn’t it or shouldn’t it be illegal for a person to assume the identity of someone else. Which one is not Ken? #34 or #35
#35 is speaking of Mr. Pringle in the 3rd person. It is not him. I don’t think there is any intent of leading readers to believe that the writer was really Ken Pringle.
Mr. Pringle has done well, but let’s keep things in perspective. He’s a lawyer and therefore must be seen as an opportunist. While he has done some good, he has his own motivations as well. Always tread lightly when around our legal “friends.”
Mr. Ken Pringle has been the salvation of Belmar residents!
The lawsuits protected residents from being responsible for repaying the Beach Utility Fund after Lawless Matt Doherty pilfered the fund to create a false appearance that we had sufficient money in our municipal budget to operate our town. We did not and still do not have enough money in our municipal budget to property operate our town without increasing taxes.
It would have been okay if our taxes were increased in small increments over 6 years like every other town did. But no, Doherty likes to appear like the big fat and getter fatter savior that did not raise taxes. Yet. Just like Lawless Matt continues to balloon in weight so will our taxes.
Thank you Ken Pringle for helping us control Lawless Matt.
omerta!
How has that marina building been allowed to continue while the buildings on beach either were changed or dropped ?
Looks like the outdoor area and outdoor bar for Anchor tavern is ready to open, just 100 yards from the brand new condos. Love this town. Poor guys at Salt are still closed by Jenn, Janice and Matt.
#45 If STAY GOLD hasn’t destroyed the brand new Condos, Anchor doesn’t stand a chance.
#44. What is better yet word around tow is they do not have permits for that bldg. but that could be garbage they may be sitting on them but someone will find out and the issue dates will be on them.
Dave, could you tell us what the exact status of the pavilions are? It seems there is some sporadic work going on but for the most part, little is being done.
I see the floor is in at 5th but is held in place by scaffolding. (I still don’t understand why they started 5th first instead of the “public safety” building.)
My guess as to the reason for the slow progress is either that they don’t have the money or there is some hang up with the DEP.
One thing that may or may not be relevant to what’s going on with the DEP is that the area in the marina that was being used as a dewatering site for the dredge spoils has been paved and the dewatering for the new round of dredging (that starts today, actually) is being done in Neptune. I had thought that it was going to be here for the duration.
Epic has a bad case of the SLOWS.
Maybe we’re COD
