No, really!
I’m talking about Ted Ehmann and Bill Straus, founding members of the Element and twin menaces to corrupt and opaque government. They are moving to south west Florida to enjoy the great kind of life that can be had there, and, from what I hear, they plan to make themselves important parts of Trump’s Florida campaign.
Originally I was going to talk about what their departure means to us when I wrote about the Jamie Fox thing, but I realized it was too much and needed its own post. Yesterday I began searching the blog, my emails and the Coast Star to refresh my memory about all the stuff these guys were involved in so I could write a post about and I realized it couldn’t fit even in a single, dedicated post.
So over the next few weeks I’ll just hit on some of the various contributions to our knowledge of what goes on in Belmar that were made by both these guys, but Mr. Ehmann in particular. You should know that many, many stories on this blog came from research done by Ted Ehmann and there’s definitely going to be a hole here when he’s gone.

So in early 2013 there were two bond ordinances for Sandy expenses, 2013-05 and 2013-06. Ted OPRAed all the invoices associated with them.

I have to go now, but just as a side note I wanted to mention that when Belmar went before the state’s Local Finance Board to get a waiver on the required down payment for the bonds, they submitted to the state the ledger that Ted had created!

No wonder patrolmen can make close to 250k almost 300k with overtime in Belmar. Just imagine this summer’s overtime.We will miss Ted, and without a new Ted, We will pay even more.

You’d’a thunk Belmar was a great place, but no more, not since the mayor and his gang ruined it. Watch out, Florida.
No one is doing a happy dance about losing these two except Doherty. We residents owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to them. Without Ted’s tenacity at gathering that info a lot of this would never have come to light. I for one am forever grateful. I became part of the element, terrorist, against recovery (to name just a few things our fine mayor has called us) because once I knew of these misuses of power, I couldn’t turn a blind eye. Thank you gents. Belmar is forever in your debt.

Just a note of thanks, and my best wishes to you both, Ted and Bill. I know that you will be missed but I also believe the passion for Belmar you shared with me and so many others, will be a lasting legacy, and a call to courage and action to the residents of our town.
Teddy and Bill there are no words to adequately express my personal appreciation for all your hard work and commitment to Belmar. You were on spot with all you did to help to make Belmar transparent and to stop the madness of Lawless Matt Doherty. I salute you both.
