Kivvit, Round World hit

North Jersey Casino

referendum jackpot!

Rake in millions in campaign ad spending!

There’s a story in Politico with some information about campaign spending by both sides in the North Jersey casino referendum.

Spearheading the “YES” side is an organization called “Our Turn NJ“, funded with $5 million each from Meadowlands Racetrack owner Jeff Gural and venture capitalist and Jersey City developer Paul Fireman.

The Politico piece has a link to Our Turn’s state campaign filing where we learn that our favorite PR firm received almost $6.35 million for a media campaign and an outfit called Round World Consulting received more than $888,000 for a mail campaign.

Definition of a consultant. One who is not gainfully employed and steals people’s watches and tells them what time it is. I have worked with many “consultants” the way the game is played is even though you may be on the state list and GSA approved, they ( the consultant) has to recommend your company they get a percentage from the winning company and they also get paid from the company or agency that hired them. That is one reason so many contracts are so high.

Ask the altantic city seniors how the gaming worked out for them!
Also Dave I’m cracking up here. It does remind me of the mailer the Belmar Democratic Committee sent out about you and Tom Burke when you ran for council against McGovern and Blackburn. Calling you Tea Party Republicans ( remember that Tom?) showing sad sad children and frail seniors. Saying you bad bad boys were going to stop senior lunches, eliminate rec basketball, increase property tax for ” out of town beach goers” cancel Friday night concerts.

In the mean time McGovern spent 10 minutes at the last meeting talking about how bad the pay to play mailer was because it used the pictures of real people, who were actually found guilty of crimes. He then went on and on using their names ( which were not in the mailer) talking about how they lived in Belmar ( also not mentioned in mailer) then touting what wonderful work they did in Belmar and how they lived here forever. Hypocrites!

It was funny listening to Magovernless whining about that mailer. The man on the flyer was guilty of crime…case closed.
Note to Magovern: Some of the world’s most heinous criminals had perfect families and grew up in nice, little towns just Belmar. Who cares ?! Instead of commenting on a mailer or telling us about basketball scores, why don’t you tell the taxpayers how the budget looks or how the Lake Como police deal is going. Better yet, explain why you were in favor of changing Belmar’s pay to play ordinance. Listening to you talk about it at the last council meeting made me dizzy.

There is no shame in shock marketing. That’s why nobody believe the traditional press.
