THIS STINKS!

For the Seafood Festival, one porta-potty is separated from the the rest of them and placed in front of the house of Joy DeSanctis, spokeswoman for the Let the Citizens Decide petitioners and prominent Doherty critic.  In all the years of Seafood Festivals no porta-potty was ever put in front of anyone’s house.  This disgusting act of political revenge is something Sharp James or Robert Mugabe might do, but it has no place in Belmar.

BTW, Councilman Brian Magovern lives just a few doors down from Ms. DeSanctis, so if it really must be there Magovern should volunteer to have it in front of his house!

Update!!!!  Joy DeSanctis speaks!

I spoke with the man unloading the toilet and he said Mary Brabazon (she heads up the festival) told him to put it there. Colleen Connolly drove by later in a golf cart and I asked her why it was in front of my home, she laughed and said because it has to be. I contacted the porta toilet company they said they never put the toilets near any residences and were instructed to do so. Maybe it’s me but does this sound personal?

This is just about doing the right thing for a citizen and taxpayer in Belmar. Whom, I might add will be somewhat impacted by having all this in her front yard as it is over teh next 3 days. From my view there really seems to be no concrete basis for why the potty was segregated from the others… I’m sure it was not done spitefully, but perception is sometimes reality. I mean anyone can walk over to the group of units and go so why have it there? Also any homeowner in town would not want to have a potty in front of their house for 3 days, opening righ up on their driveway…. Claire, I might venture a guess you would not either…

So just move the Potty for god’s sakes – save all of us from hearing conspiracy theories and just do the right thing…

In an earlier post Katrina is correct Belmar Residents please come to the meetings. If you can’t make the meetings at least view the meetings online. The May 6th meeting clearly illuminates why the mayor and his administrator felt the need to send the potty message.

B-Glad you’re finally getting a sense of humor, and that you’re getting to understand mine-using the word “joke” is very effective….for anyone else out there-B and I have a history with his initial attack about me-tired of hearing about meatballs? Thank B for that……he threw down the guantlet-I didn’t…He attacks me for not taking a stand on PottyGate, but he won’t reveal himself…..

Mike-don’t know if potty-gate was intentional or not-honestly don’t know this-believe that or not-in the end the situation was rectified-people will believe what they wish-maybe they’ll move on, maybe they won’t-who’s to say?

No — Carlo — you’re out of the Family potty business, that’s your punishment. You’re finished. I’m

I want you to stay there. Understand?
Only don’t tell me you’re innocent. Because it insults my intelligence — and makes me very angry. You did place that errant potty there. Didn’t you?
Now who approached you? I can’t say I can’t.My job would be lost. Get him out’a here. Bum.

Amazing that a lot of this has been going on for the last 3 yrs and was left in the ditch. It truly shows you what is running your town and it might be time to make a change. Another change of government might be a thought. Strong mayor weak council shows me an unbalanced representation. As we saw by the porta-potty caper.

Thanks for your answer Claire but I m not sure I agree with you findings. If as Common sense is reporting the potty has only been moved across the street and not place properly with the other potties, the situation is not rectalfied.

We understand why Joy would feel this is personal retaliation. Ten blocks south, you may have noticed that a giant Lemon, formerly from 5th Ave, showed up in front of our home last month blocking our ocean view. The next day, a lrge food truck was added, then a storage shed and 6 tables, umbrellas and chairs.. When we called Colleen several times and finally reached her (she didn’t call back) she said “don’t take it personally, that’s where Chris Brandl wants it”. “personally?” We then realized, this was undoubtedly because we have voiced our opinion on Belmar issues. I emailed the mayor and asked if there was council/public hearings on these? why all the trucks moved to the southern part of Belmar? why not put them in front of vacant lots or commerical areas? if they’re trucks why can’t they be moved during the summer? The only response wss his promise that they’d be there just for the summer, when we enjoy our view.
We used to smell the ocean, now it’s cooking smells from the roof top fan!
My wife’s family has lived here since 1944 amd our family has been one of the largest contributors to the new Boardwalk…(which the mayor has thanked us for) wish we could see it thru the clutter!

Allies, Anonymous? Your friends hide behind (you also) words and letters-what retaliation?? The people spoke out at last night’s meeting, and throughout the Sandy recovery against The Mayor and sitting Dem council members-people who do not use their names can be as ugly and as presumptious and as angry as they choose to becuase they go unidentified-please come forward and state who you are-you, and B and Guest and others on this blog don’t want to be identified-don’t believe that there was anything intentional with the potty -gate situation-I believe what what said at the metting last night….retaliation?? a bit dramartic-come on……..I don’t believe that any of you have the courage to confront me-i’ll gladyly meet with any of you…….my name is Claire Deicke……what’s yours?? The reason that people hide their names is because they don’t have the courage or dignity to come forward-they say things about people because they can get away with it-you know it, and I know it-don’t hide behind this retaliation stuff-
