For the Seafood Festival, one porta-potty is separated from the the rest of them and placed in front of the house of Joy DeSanctis, spokeswoman for the Let the Citizens Decide petitioners and prominent Doherty critic. In all the years of Seafood Festivals no porta-potty was ever put in front of anyone’s house. This disgusting act of political revenge is something Sharp James or Robert Mugabe might do, but it has no place in Belmar.
BTW, Councilman Brian Magovern lives just a few doors down from Ms. DeSanctis, so if it really must be there Magovern should volunteer to have it in front of his house!

I spoke with the man unloading the toilet and he said Mary Brabazon (she heads up the festival) told him to put it there. Colleen Connolly drove by later in a golf cart and I asked her why it was in front of my home, she laughed and said because it has to be. I contacted the porta toilet company they said they never put the toilets near any residences and were instructed to do so. Maybe it’s me but does this sound personal?

Another parking spot lost to a porta toilet. I thought there are toilets on the boardwalk?

I just don’t get this banter trashing Democrats. Abuse of power has no party ownership. Ms. De Sanctis, the victim here is a Democrat. Christie’s chief of staff was a Republican. What is creepy and unnerving about this that a public employee (s) had no morality check and proceeded accordingly. From my view there really seems to be no concrete basis for why the potty was segregated from the others… I’m sure it was not done spitefully, but perception is sometimes reality. I mean anyone can walk over to the group of units and go so why have it there? Also any homeowner in town would not want to have a potty in front of their house for 3 days, opening righ up on their driveway…. Claire, I might venture a guess you would not either…

Seems to me that this entire incident is being blown out of proportion. The main issue is that two Belmar employees obviously thought it would be funny to locate the porta-john at the end of Joy DeSanctis’ driveway. The porta-john should be removed IMMEDIATELY and the two employees reprimanded – maybe even make them remove it. Why does everything in Belmar have to come down to politics? Why can’t everyone just get along and stop being so vindictive to each other?? All this pickering makes Belmar look bad!
The board of health in Freehold should be notified this a health issue. All pertinent info should be taken from the truck. I think something will be done, if not the issue can be addressed in other ways. Here we are supposed to have a group of educated people running a town to make it better it appears we are slipping backwards fast. Too Bad. They should all grow up.

I would like the name of one town in this state that has a council who declares publicly that they will not answer questions in reference to anything on the agenda that cuts the length of the meeting and the information not bad. half of the people in this town do not know what is happening here.
Any person who seriously believes this wasn’t done on purpose should ask themselves one question. Why, when this was pointed out to the BA, did she not remedy the situation IMMEDIATELY ? In an earlier post Katrina is correct Belmar Residents please come to the meetings. If you can’t make the meetings at least view the meetings online. The May 6th meeting clearly illuminates why the mayor and his administrator felt the need to send the potty message.

We understand why Joy would feel this is personal retaliation. Ten blocks south, you may have noticed that a giant Lemon, formerly from 5th Ave, showed up in front of our home last month blocking our ocean view. The next day, a lrge food truck was added, then a storage shed and 6 tables, umbrellas and chairs.. When we called Colleen several times and finally reached her (she didn’t call back) she said “don’t take it personally, that’s where Chris Brandl wants it”. “personally?” We then realized, this was undoubtedly because we have voiced our opinion on Belmar issues. I emailed the mayor and asked if there was council/public hearings on these? why all the trucks moved to the southern part of Belmar? why not put them in front of vacant lots or commerical areas? if they’re trucks why can’t they be moved during the summer? The only response wss his promise that they’d be there just for the summer, when we enjoy our view.
