Belmar beach has not been the same for over 4 years and it is not because of any lack of pavilions. It is that the tourists are rude, arrogant and inconsiderate of others. Too much trash, tents, and fighting on the beach. It has become Seaside Heights. The restaurants are okay but nothing special. Parking is a terrible problem and after dark just gets unbearably ugly. Stay away go to Avon or Spring Lake for a family atmosphere.
I agree…The quality of “tourists” visiting Belmar has declined dramatically. Large groups with tents, often ignoring the smoking and alcohol rules and leaving piles of trash behind after feeding the seagulls.. its a whole different feel than the past.
Maybe we should reduce the advertising that attracts these huge crowds. Our tourism commission is focused on filling the bars and crowding the streets and beach. Beach utility revenues(our mayor/council slush fund)has become the single measure of success.
Some may interpret this review as the need to spend more money and build more permanent structures on the boardwalk. I have chosen Belmar as my beach for over 30 years myself. The low cost badge and free children has been a consideration. As my kids grow and I consider the badge only for myself I must be honest I may consider Avon or Spring Lake to avoid the large crowds, tents and coolers.
Doesn’t the county prosecutor’s office have CDS arrest files from Belmar for major task force review in a timely manner or is that ATF arena? Boat trafficking for sales is followed by WHO?
According to the Belmar Democrats Facebook we are no longer “the element”, therefore those rude tourists can have the title. The post urges Democrat partisans to come out and support the mayor and council tonight in order to show the NO people “what unity is all about”.
Who writes this stuff? Whoever did meant what Democratic Party Unity looks like. True unity is when you stop calling others the “No people.”

I don’t think that comment is representative of what the majority of visitors think of Belmar.
Here is the link to all Belmar’s reviews on Tripadvisor:

I would not be surprised if some of the reviews were written by the Mayor and his minions.
I thought I was the one with minions.
Every time I see the word, “minions,” I think of the Wicked Witch of the West’s little flying monkey minions from the “Wizard of Oz.”

common sense is a flower that doesn’t grow in everyone’s garden

Sad to see this kind of review, but what they say is true. Belmar needs to speed up on the road to recovery.
Also, the beach area needs better rules such as, no tents, no rowdiness and no foul language.
There is too much of a party feel to Belmar now. Too many bars, too much noise from parties and too much trash all over town from boozers.
#4 Admin is that millions of readers, NOT sarcastic!

The reviewer only wanted more toilets and lunch trucks. She didn’t say anything about missing the pavilions.

#13- she states “… not making progress with rebuilding”.. I took that as she expects more to be built.
Yeah maybe. I guess she doesn’t know that for some reason it’s very very expensive to build government buildings in Belmar lately.
It should be noted that Deby stayed at and reviewed the “terrific B & B” which made their stay in Belmar. Great job Marty and Joyce @ Saltwater Inn.
