Tuesday’s Agenda

Tourism Commission expanded to include a Council member and administration representative.

(Schneck would have preferred the Commission be officially de-commissioned.)

Resolutions here.

Ordinance 2019-01 here.

I do expect going forward that the Commission will be fully compliant with all provisions of ordinance 3-6, Tourist Development Commission.

When was the beach badge fee increase discussed in public with this current council? How disgusting that this new Mayor and Council are only 12 days in and there are more backroom deals appearing. Lets start to promote transparency and get rid of the Doherty initiated Consent Adgenda form of voting on a cluster of Resolutions and lets go back to the old way of voting on Resolutions individually, which will promote Council comment and discussion on each Resolution in PUBLIC.

“If discussion is desired, the item will be removed from the consent agenda and considered separately.” Come to the meeting.

#3 – Discussion should not be “desired” by the mayor and council, it should be required.

Bette, you should provide interpretive statements at the end of Agenda postings for those deficient in reading skills.

I’m more worried about the Planning board, Belmar Inn now with new administration being builder friendly.

#8 … the Belmar Inn proposal is the purview of the Zoning Board of Adjustment … there are no elected officials on the ZBA.

Young gals told me yesterday that they have called Belmar Inn numerous times this week asking to book Memorial Day weekend. The repeated response was “we don’t know if we can book that far in advance yet”.

The idea of increasing beach badge fees was introduced at a recent meeting in December, along with mention by the new mayor that the 2018 rates would be available in December, and if they go up in the future, buy then to save money. Good and helpful idea. Attending meetings and listening and even commenting in the public session is a good thing to do in order to know what is going on and present one’s point of view. Forewarned is forearmed.

This Tuesdays council meeting is very important. During the workshop part of the meeting, we will present experts who helped us during the transition. They will reveal all the past administration left us. I think you will find the auditor interesting. You will see what 8 years “without a tax raise “ did. You’ll be able to ask questions so you don’t have to assume what they left us. This meeting is a must attend. I’m urging all residents to come out tomorrow, hear what the professionals have to say and have the opportunity to ask them questions. Mayor Walisfer and the Council are being transparent about what was found and we will share it with you. See you tomorrow night.

#15 If you read the resolution the zoning board did not change this year, not even an alt member was changed. And they are appointed to terms so they only get changed when terms expire or if the member decides to resign, move out of town, etc. Not everything is so negative and evil.

#16 Exactly, so the appointees are embedded till they no longer are. That is kinda negative, assuming one does not appreciate their penchant for granting variances all over the place instead of upholding the borough’s well thought out ordinances regarding construction, but instead making exceptions for certain people.
