What do you mean #20? Mark never had experience in running anything? He helped to make decisions benefitting our students at the Belmar School for many years. He took part in formulating the school budget. My children attended Belmar school during his tenure, and I was so pleased with the school as were my neighbors who had children attending the school.

Mark has run private, successful businesses since he was 17 years. Do your research. Office holders in Belmar work their tails off for its citizens.

28, you may be correct in that people were fooled again in Belmar and they are anti-fakes.
The truth is that Walsifer pulled this crap years ago when he attempted to take over the Republican party. He was Doherty before Doherty was Doherty! But the Republicans were a smart group with a spine back then. They ousted him. Then the party went on to nominate Billy Merkler, who was followed by Richard Wright and then Jim Bean. All great people we could be proud of. Walsifer had been planning on running and becoming mayor for years and waiting for his retirement. Hopefully the committee regains their senses and pushes for their power back. I hear they mean nothing now. They are ignored. Too bad. Walsifer needs to be ousted once again, or at least he needs other people around him to answer to. Choosing Jim Bean for council is a great start. I have not decided yet my other vote.

Yes #32 a bullet vote has advantages but runs the risk that your candidate wins and has no companion support. Bill Merkler, Richard Wright and Jim himself all found themselves as a lone voice which is much more easily overridden by the larger majority. So understanding the risks pointed out by #13 a judgement will have to be made and the quality of the candidate asking for the second vote will need to be seriously evaluated and if found wanting it is bullet time.

33-As a board of Ed member for nearly 20 years Mark was part of the hiring of excellent teachers, had input into curriculum development, established the yearly budget, and served as Vice President of the board for several years. Mark also worked hand-in-hand with area high schools as Belmar sends students to these high schools .
I’m sure that our Mayor and Council will answer your questions regarding your financial concerns. Stand up at a council meeting. I’m sure that our CFO will be able to make projections about future tax rates, debt reductions, etc.

Walsifer is a good man. Give him a chance. Belmar School is an excellent place of learning. We’ve had students place first in their high school graduating classes, make the high school honor rolls, and attend prestigious colleges. My children attended Belmar Elementary School along with their friends. All involved received a solid initial education at Belmar School, went on to colleges, and are leading very successful lives. Teachers are superb, and have been through the years.

#40-Belmar Elementary is a great school . Wonderful students and instructors. While state testing results are important, the real deal is how our students compete academically in high schools in the area. Our students maintain good grades, and those who attend vocational schools do well, also.
#47 – C’mon, the administrators and teachers are a bunch of dumb charlatans enriching themselves with the idea of “it’s for the children.” The fact of the matter is these schools are many years obsolete and no amount of bleating will change it. Much good is happening at Belmar School. Instruction is delivered in a clear and concise way. Students go on to lead successful lives and careers.
If the school is so great then why didn’t any of the students pass the entrance exam for the 5 schools this year? And in previous years those who passed still had to do summer school for Algebra since they did not score well on placement test for math.
Belmar Elementary is a great pre-K through 8th grade school . Proof of this is how well our students do in high school and how successful they are in life .No charlatans – just dedicated professionals who want the best for their students.
If the schools are antiquated, why aren’t the students doing poorly in their lives? Truth is our Belmar School students who are now adults are leading successful lives. Nothing antiquated about the school..Students are having success in vo/tech schools also. I have a relative who attended Belmar School who is a plumber. Making big money and has a thriving business. I will keep readers of this blog up to date and will report success stories of Belmar students as I learn of them. Apparently the basics learned at Belmar School serve as a solid foundation for young adult residents. These individuals are proof positive of the great education they received at Belmar Elementary School.

Was the best on many levels. The staff is made up of dedicated professionals.
The point isn’t whether or not a few parents are happy about the school. The point is the taxpayers are being swindled. The administration and teachers all know the children of illegal aliens make up 2/3rds of the student body. That’s known as theft of services. They also know that those children bring down the scores of the entire school (they’re not up to it intellectually). These children are doing really badly and have no future here except as wards of the state (as they actually are now). Here’s one: Taylor Fowler, Belmar Elementary grad: Youngest Red Band Regional H.S. alumna to receive the school’s Distinguished Alumna Hall of Fame. She graduated Stevens Institute of Technology (a very competitive engineering college) with a degree in music technology. She parlayed her degree into top careers at Disney and Netflix.
Getting to RBR takes an entrance exam and in most cases, a presentation/audition. Smart kids who were denied a good education wouldn’t pass. How on earth did she gain access from BES? 😉

#55-Not correct about our Hispanic students. They are bright-learning the English quickly…faster than I can become fluent in Spanish. They receive honor roll status in the high schools they attend. I’ll be getting back on the blog with names of Hispanic students who are on honor rolls in high schools. By the way, the Hispanic students are bi-lingual. How many of us can say the same ? They have the ability to back and forth quickly in both languages without blinking an eye. Grade-wise Hispanic students do well in all subjects. No theft of services . Most of these students are born here . Ergo, Anerican citizens. Parents could be undocumented.

Not long ago the person ranked first in the graduating class from Manasquan High School was from Belmar Elementary School. Also, speaking of Hispanic students ( who are American citizens if born here) are pretty smart. To be able to think in Spanish, and speak in that language, and two minutes later can think and speak in English; that’s pretty amazing , and very smart.
From 1880 -1920, the biggest influx of immigrants into the country, the language of instruction in our schools was English. If a child didn’t know a word of English when they got here, they entered the English only class like any other student and learned on the run. These children of illegal aliens must learn in Spanish. #55- I think we’ve been through this already but here goes- You CANNOT blame the school for the undocumented immigrant students any more than you can blame a hospital for treating undocumented immigrants. The school must educate the students that enroll. A hospital must treat the people that come in the ER. You, my ill informed friend, need to take your frustrations out on the congress members (both sides of isle) who refuse to take up meaningful immigration reform. Because THEY are the ones ripping you off. The school has no choice but to educate the children that enter it.

If it’s so terrible ,Mr. Dilberger, why do our students go on to high schools and in life and have success? The Belmar School has more than a little to do with it. No theft of services here. The children born here are citizens. The children of all cultures assimilate , become friends, and learn from each other . I know of Belmar parents with money who could well afford to send their children to private schools. I’m not from Nj but now have the privilege to live in Belmar. I love living here. I graduated from a blue collar school in another state. Graduating class was around 89. I was one of 5 boys that graduated from college from our class. Many of the other boys are doing well but working hard. You folks have no idea how good your schools are in Monmouth county and especially in Belmar. It’s Major leagues compared with some other states very close by.

The answer my friends is immigration reform. As it stands now, the system is broken and will lead to the lowering of the standard of living of all Americans. As to your last sentence, “Your thinking defies basic logic.” I cannot defy logic. I live in a world of movement and that world is ruled by logic. One false move on my part would have long ago ended my stay in this life. I doubt very much you move through the physical surroundings I do and have all my life from my earliest childhood. That is the difference between us I think. Keep reading your books.
#91-What makes you think I haven’t moved through life, or experienced life? I’ve moved through life through various environments and experiences. Many were difficult situations and many were joyous times. I surely will continue reading those books. My life’s lessons-like everyone else-are varied and rich-with the good and the bad. 91-you asked a commenter whether that person went to college. Why? Then you never answered that person’s question about your education, why? That person answered your question. Why wouldn’t you respond to the same question put to you? Is it good that the person has a master’s degree, or not, in your opinion? You left it up in the air. Are you putting down the reading of books? “Keep reading your books ” sounding like sarcasm.

I was getting prepared for my radiation treatments at the Hope Center at Jersey Shore medical Center, -starting soon. Just looking at the blog first time today. After the hospital Then doctors’ appointments. I don’t have a masters degree, and I don’t read two books a week. Lucky to read one a month. I could care less about Tom’s schooling.

You new comers arguing with Mr Dilberger- You would have a less frustrating experience arguing with a toaster oven. Let it go. He’s not capable of rational thought and that’s ok. He is consistent and there’s something (I guess) to be said for that.
As for Summer Timer and Mr D’s illegal immigrants rants (just the dark ones- the Canadian illegals and the eastern and western European illegals are fine. They blend) Let’s use an analogy so maybe you two will see things more clearly.
DRUGS- We all know about drugs, right? In the world of drugs, you have suppliers, users and the drugs themselves. In the world of central american illegal border crossings you also have the supplier (Central American countries with dysfunctional governments [in some cases due directly from American interference], high crime, gang violence, and drought) Then you have the users- American companies and the American consumers(cheap labor etc)And then you have the drugs themselves (the illegal border crosser)
Now in the world of drugs, we all get very mad the dealers and the users but we don’t get mad at the drugs. You two are angry with the drugs. GET MAD at the suppliers and the users. Change the demand and the supply dries up.
