Besides the type “we bathing suits” –> should probably be “wet bathing suits”….Are they really going to enforce the below one (pg 47)…this is a beach town!!! I agree with banning laundry in the front – but bathing suits & beach towns IN A BEACH TOWN????
26-7.15 Wash lines & Wash on Street Fronting Lawns and Porches
It shall be unlawful to place, hang or exhibit we bathing suits, wet linens or washed articles in
any street fronting yard, porch or roof of any premises or house in the Borough.
I so agree. This “condo/townhouse association type law is really out of line (pun intended),for a beach town. In November we spent a great week in Key West. We stayed at an upscale B&B
and had to dry our suits and towels on the front porch bannister. Even here in Rhode Island Point, people with pools or not but with kids, hang their towels on the front porch to dry. Are they now risking a fine? I thought our town was “Green”! The green solution is to use less energy.
Even without the typo, this is a poorly written and short-sighted ordinance.
Is it so long ago that most clothes lines were in the back yard to dry the wet beach garb and allow all those beach badges pinned on the garb to be stolen?
In Sicily people hang their cloths out all the time. But that is Italy…This is the–U. S. A.
Ok this is too funny not to run with,I will be sure to credit Dave’s blog.I gotta go take some beach towel photos, while its still legal in Belmar!
You could have shot my porch railing on nearly any summer day.
Be careful Bill. There is another ordinance for a vote making it illegal to film 200 feet of a bar. If your shot has a bar in there anywhere, we will have to come and bail you out.
What next? Too many ordinances.
It is a beach town! How about a Memorial day weekend of hanging towels all over the front porch?
This is totally crazy. We always put our towels on our front porch. Another way for the council to waste our time and money.
Belmar’s handling of boro ordinances is now officially a tragi-comedy
I voted for Jim Bean.
