Hey BBP, there are 5 REGISTERED candidates for council this year. Is the BBP now showing some political bias to their customers?
I don’t think so.
The two democrats turned down the LOWV event but agreed to do this one? I wonder why. Oh wait, I see- no questions will be asked and you can only go if you are a business owner or own commercial property. Am I reading that wrong? Or does it indicate that only BBP ‘stakeholders’ are invited? And no Bean? Hardly seems like a legit meet the candidates.
My plan for improving the business climate in Belmar is to get rid of the BBP.
They have Tom Carvelli listed as a Republican. LoL
Somebean is off the list…can’t we have one event without political bias running the show? Boycott!

When Matt and the gang had a back room meeting for those in favor of the pavilion at Anchor Tavern, Tommy and I attended. It wasn’t easy to get in (many were denied entry, I wound up in the front bar and had a beer with friends while we argued about the pavilion;). Tom did get into the back, stood up and explained why he was afraid of the bad pavilion deal. I think it helped. Maybe it will work at Doughboys. I’d love to ask the women a few questions.
I’m really confused. 10 minutes each to talk to the business owners? Most do not live in Belmar. Only including 4 out of 5 candidates? BBP you need to rethink and fix this.I think the BBP does a decent job but I have a hard time understanding why Business owners pay for beautification when it is a vital part of our town. Belmar should allocate money for improvements as they allocate for everything else. Business owners or landlords are left to foot the bill for improvements. What really stinks is how many building owners are exempt from contributing like everything else they are exempt from. All properties should contribute not a small group. Give Sal a chance to correct this mistake and maybe he thought something is better than nothing to meet the candidates. He’s a good guy doing all this work for free. The ones who don’t contribute should be called out to pay or dissolve it and have the town realize main street is part of the community and improve it through grants.
They purposely let out the Bean guy. The BBP should be defunded and flushed down the toilet. #2 Are you serious whit your comment?
There are five candidates running for two council seats.Jim Bean was not invited to BBP meet the candidates night at Doughboy. I hope this was an oversight. Jim is a decorated Marine.
He served to protect our freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Is this how we treat our veterans? Do what is right, fair, and just. Invite Jim Bean.
Not inviting Jim Bean is an above average mistake

Thank you everyone. I spoke to Sal and he said he didn’t know I was running. I’m surprised the other candidates didn’t let him know I was missed. Either way, just like Aileen, I am going to show up and try to get in.
It looks as though you won’t be able to ASK any questions. Each candidate gets 10 mins to propagandize and that’s it.
Plus it looks like only business owners ans commercial property owners can attend.
Can anyone confirm? Or is it open to the general public?
Special Improvement District (SID) taxpayers are a special interest group
Jim Bean, when you were speaking to Sal he didn’t invite you to attend ?
There are business owners that were not invited to attend. The SID is ultimately controlled by the Mayor and Council. What does it take to change the “leadership” of the SID?
He probably said I could come. We talked for 15 minutes. I don’t remember the exact wording. I already decided to show up and all I remember was him saying he didn’t know I was running. Sal and I spoke more about businesses being exempted from the BBP and other problems. I did not get any formal request from the BBP as of today.
I also heard the Dem candidates say they had no idea this was planned. I think it’s more disappointing that someone at town hall knew this was happening and didn’t inform anyone that I was missed.
20. Just go beat them all Jim Bean. This nonsense that is going on between the administration and the BBP is Doherty all over again. I will never vote for any of these current sitting clowns again.
