The Govenor should hold township officals responsible for enforcing the coronavirus rules…. If the town doesn’t comply cut-off any and all state funding the town receives… For Belmar that would mean NO grant to repair the school… Let’s see how not recieving those funds because of lack of enforcement at Djais will go over the next election… Hit people in the pocket that’s how to get their attention…

What about the beaches? There are large groups of older kids/young adults not in the same household with their blankets on top of each other nowhere near 6 feet apart. If you’re going to pick on DJais then pick on the greedy town for not enforcing social distancing on the beach in lieu of badge fees (the only town in the area not significantly restricting beach badge sales).

#1-It should be the owners of each establishment to enforce the social distancing. I don’t think we need the entire Belmar PD babysitting DJais.
#2-kind of hard to know who is related and who is staying in one household. People need to take some responsibility. Again not the job of PD to babysit anyone who comes to Belmar.

#4 I never said it was the PDs job to babysit anyone! I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of Belmar and its greed for money & not enforcing social distancing on the beach. Additionally, it’s very easy to tell. A single family doesn’t have 5-10+ kids/young adults roughly the same age. Additionally, most groups are over 16 with IDs, ask them and make them spread out. I agree people should take personal responsibility, but as you know, some aren’t and need to be dealt with. If you’re going to excuse/disregard social distancing on the beach (& Boardwalk) then you should excuse it everywhere.

#5-Listen I’m all for opening the state. I think Murphy is the biggest idiot and if you want to start with hypocrisy start with him and his defending Protesting. You don’t think half these young kids either participated or are aware of this hypocrisy that HE started? If I’m not mistaken anyone renting in Belmar is considered a household yet not family members. Hard to always differentiate that. Perhaps if it’s HS kids it should start with their parents to enforce the social distancing. That’s just my opinion

#4…. But the owners obviously did enforce social distancing… All that is require is required is police chief or mayor to do an inspection of the bar on a weekend evening… Document the mess that everyone but them witnessed and suspend the liquor license… It’s very easy… Just takes some initiative…

Gov. Ron DeSantis: Firms that violate Covid-19 safety rules may lose biz license

Florida will go after businesses that “flagrantly” violate pandemic safety rules, said Gov. Ron DeSantis during a June 23 press conference in Orlando.
The state Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation will crack down on those businesses that violate social distancing and capacity guidelines for reopening. That comes after the Knight’s Pub near the University of Central Florida in Orlando had its liquor license suspended this week due to violating guidelines.
A warning will be given to a business with a slight violation of capacity or other safety rules, compared to one that has large parties, said DeSantis. “If you go in and it’s like mayhem, Dance Party USA, packed to the rafters, that’s just cut and dried,” DeSantis said. “That’s not an innocent mistake.”

Covid Rate. From the President of Cleveland

“In my job as President of the 3 Cleveland Clinics in Martin and St. Lucie Counties I have access to up to the minute Covid info. locally. I reported the very disappointing local Covid news at the Martin County Commission meeting Friday. Hospitalizations locally are up significantly. In the past 10 days the daily census of hospitalized Covid patients has gone from 21 to 47 as of yesterday. Patients on ventilators have tripled in that same time. The growth rate in Martin County is second only to Dade County in all of south FL. Martin Co, with half the population of St. Lucie County and about the same population as Indian River County, has more confirmed Covid cases that those other 2 counties COMBINED. THe new cases are from all over (this is not “an Indiantown problem”) and we are seeing more middle aged patients hospitalized than any other age group (this is not a “frail elderly” problem. And comparisons to the flu are foolish. Not even close.
By all appearances Martin County has Covid exploding right now. My advice: WEAR A MASK, WASH HANDS FREQUENTLY, SOCIAL DISTANCE, AVOID UNNECESSARY EXPOSURE.
And personally I do care if others refuse to wear masks in enclosed retail businesses and the like. It used to be Americans willingly sacrificed in times like this for the public good. It was considered patriotic to do so, and rude and unpatriotic to refuse to comply. Today it is still rude and disrespectful of my fellow citizens to be unwilling to make a very minor sacrifice by wearing a mask. Wrapping oneself in an American flag and declaring your right to expose yourself and others to Covid risks doesn’t change that. Thank goodness Americans didn’t take that approach with rationing foods and supplies in WW2- we might be waving German or Japanese flags today…”

    And then there’s this:

Dr Carroll Brennan’s post from today.

Heads up, Martin County…almost 200 more cases were reported between 6/18 and 6/20 with testing positivity rates of 21%, 19%, and 25% on those 3 days, far surpassing the 10% threshold. The total as of 6/20 was 1525. More than half the cases are in the 34994 and 34997 zip codes. The median age of yesterday’s 77 cases was 34! PLEASE wear a face covering and keep a safe distance from others. #WearAMask #Masks4All

There’s no need to fire the policemen. They’re doing what they should. The situation can explode any time. There is very little chance we get away from this summer without a riot due to people’s frustration over this dumb shut-down hoax. So lets not have the police be the reason the/a riot starts.
