Why we would want to take on all those problems is beyond me but there’s another thought I want to share today, namely, why should Lake Como even be a town? They are farming out some or all of just about every function that you can think of as a reason to have a town: police, courts, schools, public works, first aid and probably some other things. Maybe they should just outsource their Mayor and Council while they’re at it.
The area that is now Lake Como was part of Wall Township until 1924, when the residents there voted to part ways with Wall because of a tax dispute. The current residents should recognize that their forbearers made a big mistake in 1924, that their town is not viable and is living off of state aid, and that they should humbly ask Wall Township to please take them back.

They should ask to become part of Belmar, not Wall. You can’t tell where one town ends and the other begins as it is now. Very little new manpower would be needed to support and as a result Belmars tax base would expand to pay for pavilions etc.
No, thanks. They are bankrupt. Wall has more money than we do and is in a better position to take over. Besides, it did used to be part of Wall.

Well, they’re just yet another town in our state that is essentially a ward of the state. Look at Asbury Park, Camden, Trenton, Elizabeth, Paterson, Etc. Nothing new under the sun here in NJ.
