APP wants to know if the $5 million Dobco is offering is enough to build a new municipal complex. Back in 2015 I showed what Lavallette could do with just a little more than what we paid for a dining hall.

Sad to say this is a bargain for a police station /municipal building these days. But it doesn’t include a gym.
It includes a regional post office though, which Belmar wouldn’t need.
Now that’s a building for 5 million! Bricks and mortar. Not a 5 million dollar plastic building like Doherty, Magovern and Connolly put up at 5th and ocean.
2 major differences between the Lavallette municipal building and the one proposed.
1. The proposed municipal building is 35,000SF. More than double the Lavallette building.
2. The proposed Municipal building site has a Deceleration of Environmental Restriction (DER)Any construction there would need to be done with oversight from the DEP and in accordance with the DER document. This will add additional costs to construction.
Mr. Admin., with all due respect, I say use that new regional post office, take over and make the old post office our library/technology center. Then knock down the ancient library, sell the property for condos and pay off some debt. That old library property may be worth $3M if subdivided. Would then generate tax money.
What will be the projected costs of the working innards of the new building? Anything hardware transferable in Dave’s example and if not what was the ultimate cost? What about the infrastructure? Didnt the BA fix the Muni bldg already?
Mark Levi’s. Please go away! Were trying to get over the past.
I wish people like #7 would go away. God forbid we get important truthful information! Let’s listen to a guy who misspells Mark’s last name even though it’s printed right above his comment…sheesh. Mark Levis gave important facts (just like Eugene Creamer and Ken Pringle did) in regards to the municipal project site. But hey, no need to live in reality #7. Ya know, you must be getting tired – better go back to your TV show. Yell at that for awhile – it doesn’t yell back.
#7 what does your comment mean? How does Mark Levis’s past have anything to do with anything? He was on the council for a hot minute and stood up to Matt and Colleen.
Ooooohhh – maybe #7 is a drink the kool-aid Matt sycophant? Or maybe you mean a guy named Mark who works for the jeans company.
#4 – Oh, you again?
4-Thanks for this information/clarification Mark.
#4 Mark Levis, thanks for your comments. I appreciate your information and please keep
them coming. I am amazed at the insulting comments on this site. Too bad that the people who are criticizing don’t step up and help solve some of the Boro’s problems. Perhaps you should attend the council meetings.
