A reader sent me a copy of D’Jais license renewal from March 2010 and noted that several restrictions have been removed since Doherty became mayor.
On item #7 they changed service outside from midnight to 1:00 AM and removed “patron must be seated and dining” when being served alcohol on the porch.
On item #10 they removed “no tents or temporary structures allowed”.
Item #11 about the location of the generator has been removed completely.
On item #12, the restrictions on how late they can maintain lines outside for entry and re-entry have been removed.
Item #15, restricting when they can sell multiple drinks to one patron, is gone. The reader who sent this to me found this particularly troubling as many patrons load up on drinks and shots shortly before last call so they are that much drunker when they are turned out onto Belmar’s streets.
Anyway, thanks to this reader and all the others who send me information I can pass along.

You missed an important one… Change in occupancy.
We need some videos from outside DJais at 1-2 am to see how many people are staggering out and vomiting
I can’t stay up that late.
Doesn’t the use of such a large generator suggest that they are out using the capacity of the space?
Also, is anyone aware of any variances D’Jais received when they built their out back bar area? Expanding of a non conforming use would require a variance from the board of adjustment by law. I’m not aware of any meeting, or variances. Did I miss something? Maybe this falls under temporary structures, now allowed…
