Dave . Is there a way to really find out how this project has started without proper permitting? Sounds like we are opening the door to major issues

I guess the mayor knows something we don’t. Will keep digging.

It is funeral like and that is appropriate.
This illegal plan, lease and construction put another nail in the coffin containing hard-working New Jerseyians Who use the Green Acres coastal parkland. The mayor’s statement about attracting rich folks with yachts to spend in Belmar says it all. His idea, not ours (people in Belmar and 100 miles around Belmar.) When did we get to say or comment on this idea? What study was ever done to prove this theory as realistic? WHAT THE MAYOR NEVER TELLS US ARE THE TRUE COSTS. This illegal, unpermitted construction in the mayor’s own words favors the 2% at the cost, the loss of the 98% whose total access to the parkland is legally protected for perpetuity.

Belmar needs a roadhouse, not classy looking joints. Wine list? Nah! Lots of beer and burgers. A dredged river might mean no fish kill to stink up the outdoor dining?

And unless Tom Brennan went to the ground breaking on his 25 minute lunch period, or took half a personal day to attend it, we taxpayers are paying his over $70,000 salary for him to attend this instead of teaching the kids.

#9. I am perfectly fine with our “environmental” councilman standing up against free open space and defending the right to exploit the natural treasure/Shark River. We should erect a statue for the marina of him. How do you write corporate greed is good in Latin?

A restaurant at the marina with no parking is expected to be successful while three former restaurant sites on Main Street are vacant. (Main Street business is thriving, yes sir.) A multi-level parking garage must be the next step…where? More construction, union jobs, what else?

Didn’t the borough require the Kapalko/Harmon brothers to have parking for their marina property in Phase 1 redevelopment? Has the 2 million dollars lawsuit the Harmons were forced to file against the borough of Belmar settled or is it still ongoing?

The holdup of the construction has been resolved but there is still a lawsuit pending over the transfer of the liquor license.

Harmons brothers with established businesses holding 2 valid liqour licenses. Why was their liquor license transfer to a new location across the street to the marina held up for over a year when chefs took only one week to get license approval at the old connellys?
