Yesterday’s Roll Call

While the version that was passed doesn’t give local governments veto power, it does allow for them to place reasonable conditions on the extra openings and any costs for those conditions must be paid for by the license holder.  Also remember it could have been much worse; the original bill was to convert all the licenses to year round.  This bill only adds 14 additional days they can be open.

The bill now heads to the Senate.

Don’t know if it’s worth finding employees to work on “off” weekends but if so we could be dealing with the D’Jais crowd on weekends around these holidays: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, St. Pats parade, St. Pat’s day and Spring Break. That’s 7 weekends (or 14 days).

#1 – Yes, they could open on these days (and I agree this is a concern), but I think the fact that there won’t be the same offseason housing might keep it in check….unless a big Air B&B…don’t see many landlords renting for a day here or there

While its a worthwhile discussion with Djais, I saw a lot of the people who complain about Djais, at Djais this past Friday, getting their free meal and dollar drinks. That’s the pot calling the kettle black if you ask me. Not to mention the savages cutting the food line and grabbing food with their bare hands….

There won’t be a need to find new employees for these days. Majority of their staff resides in Belmar year round, but they work in other local bars in the off-season. They have a phenomenal group of employees and I’m sure they’ll have no problem coming back to work for a few weekends.
