But we can’t have dunes! People like to see the the ocean while they drive down Ocean Ave. And by people I mean tourists. We put up temporary dunes during the off season because…screw the locals.

The new Administration has the Ear of the Surfriders. They will not disturb the beach, our jewel in the crown. No more farm equipment needed. Advice is available from local DEP Professionals.

  4. Not surprised at all. NJ is an absolute joke when it comes to managing coastal resources. Between cutting off public access in the form of multi-million dollar private mansions to the beach replenishment nightmare, NJ has its literal head in the sand. As for Belmar, you’d think that the taxpayer who funds beach replenishment would be rewarded with some nice natural dunes to actually keep the sand on the beach! Not eyesore berms that ruin the entire natural beach profile. Go take a walk this weekend near the southern end of town and see how messed up the beach is from these berms. No idea how they will correct the build up of sand on the eastern side of the dunes compared to the western side come spring.
