Busy week for Belmar. Guess the media will be storming the town.

Let’s hope the alleged deception stops now.

It’s good to be a lawyer for these folks. (All paid for by us, of course.)

Wondering why the attorney is not from the town’s errors and omissions insurance. It would be free representation as part of the coverage afforded by the policy. Taxpayers should not be paying for this.

#3 FYI only – I found this information regarding this type of insurance from one company:
    Fraudulent acts
We won’t cover any fraudulent, dishonest or criminal acts. However, we’ll defend these actions until they’re proven to be fraudulent, dishonest or criminal by proper process in court. If this happens, we’ll kindly request that you reimburse us for those costs.

Don’t worry …. the regime can promote municipal employees who fall on their swords …. employee whistle-blowing is discouraged.

Over time, its been uncovered and documented that there have been a numerous incidents of back dating Belmar’s borough documents, “typo mis-dating,” diversion of donations from intended use to apparent fraudulent misuse. Council members have changed public comments on various public issues from “I don’t know anything about that” to follow-up comments that they’d forgotten about this or that, and of course they were involved in borough discussions/decisions. Really? Calls for accountability are deemed politically motivated or retaliatory and are thus ignored.
When the issue of the missing donated vouchers (intended for those most in need and least able to help themselves) arose, the borough’s response was an unapologetic .. oops .. they concluded they had poor protective/management skills. I’ll end this little rant (which feels good) by saying its nice to hear the misdeeds of this clerk in Wall were identified and brought before the Court. Justice can happen.

It wasn’t in Wall. It was Belmar’s clerk. (I strongly suspect that if she did do anything wrong she was put up to it.) The case was held in Wall to avoid a conflict of interest.

Interrogatories are now being screened by computers and humans. The system can be set to look for certain words, phrases, etc.

    Interesting turn of events
