Well lets get rid of the corrupt and let Mr Wannabe Lifeguard Chief go get a job elsewhere where he actually has to have experience. A police office being charged full time to the beach utility is stealing from the beach tag buyer to lower property taxes. This is against the law. The court came down hard on Belmar for charging Specials (Officers) working in the evening hours of summer being charged to the Beach utility, what do you think they would say about seasons when the beach isn’t even manned? The court ruled that only officers that work on the beach front during charging hours can be compensated with beach funds. The beach tags buyer is paying for their safety with lifeguards and police. Why should they pay to breaking up fights between D’Jais customers on private property or the St. Patty’s parade?
Yes these rules stink, but it is the law. If the Mayor and council (they ALL voted yes but me on the budgets) would have taken the politically unpopular fiscal discipline approach on managing the town, these salaries would have never gotten out of control like this. Now Belmar taxpayers will clean up the mess.
