Doherty lectured on decorum last meeting. If I were George Skudera who spoke at public comments, I would have stopped until, the mayor looked up and listened. Disgraceful!!!
For the record, Blackburn didn’t meet with Senator Booker, she met with his staff. Believe me, it’s not even close to being the same thing!
I live on 16th Ave., across the street is Lake Como. A police car drives down the road and we both benefit equally, 50-50. I have the same right as the person living in Lake Como to call the police on an issue, again 50-50. Can someone please explain to me why I as a resident in Belmar will now pay 3 times more than that person in Lake Como for the exact same service? Matt’s plan is for Lake Como to pay 25% of our entire Police Budget. A million dollar A YEAR gift by you, the taxpayer in Belmar, to Lake Como, to reduce their tax rate by .50 cents and reduce the level of services in now expected in Belmar. Does anyone out there care?

All Trumped UP, the biggest point you are missing, is when you call for service, and all the cops are at a fight outside BAR A, it will take some time before they can get to you!

meanwhile in Lake Como I don’t believe (I was there and am still confused) that the residents were given definite numbers/specifics as to what the agreement is. The focus was on just what it COULD cost if they did not disband the police department. Not only shaking my head but thoroughly confused on how it got to this point.

Belmar police had better listen carefully, as their jobs could be on the chopping block if budget cutting is necessary when the crap hits the fan when the mayor is safely gone. All that seniority could go down the drain.
#7- Do not believe the numbers that were given. They were tailor made for Wilton, and Matt, to deceive the public. The guy from the state admitted he was not given ALL of the information he requested to do an adequate analysis of exactly how many Officers would be needed to cover Lake Como in a safe and efficient manner. He therefore gave Wilton the numbers Wilton wanted.

What happened to the names on the list when the first P.O.s from Lake Como were hired? How do you take a test score well place on a list and find you
do not get hired a P.O. From another town gets the job. Where does that sit on the legal ladder?i
Matt hired the two via a Interlocal Agreement, a least common way to hire. He bypassed the normal hiring procedure of Pulling names off of the Civil Service list that was active. By doing so he #1- Overspent nearly $500k over the next five years (Lake Como Officers were hired at inflated starting salaries) and #2- Skipped over hiring a female African American resident who was high on the Civil Service list. Another way to hire is to pull names off of the State’s Rice list, a list of laid off Officers.
Are the union dues paid by law enforcement personnel based on their salaries earned?
I wonder if the large contribution from Mr. Raia ($2000?)to Jennifer’s campaign last year means anything special to her? Maybe he just likes her because she seems to be a nice person. (There was spot-zoning for this person to put in a swimming pool without a house on the same property.) Any future favors? Nah … just spreading the love.
#14- No, union dues are not based on salary. They may vary a little by local with a flat rate going to the State PBA. They are relatively very cheap.
