American Littoral Society members have been searching the L Street beach for horseshoe crabs … mostly at night w/ LED flashlights.
For what reason? Not much meat on them.
#2 … Horseshoe crab eyes and blood are used for medical research … the eggs are an integral part of the Atlantic Flyway migratory shorebird ecosystem.
btw- the blood sells for over $60,000 per gallon
