Beach Revenue Growth Due To Higher Prices, Not More Visitors!

August 2015 beach report is bad news.

Here is the beach report from this period last year.  (There is a typo, “Thru August 4, 2014” should be “Thru August 4,2013”:

Prices didn’t change between 2013 and 2014.  There was growth because more people bought badges and more people fed the parking meters.

Here is the current beach report:

Yes, revenue is up a little more than 10% over last year but season badges cost 10% more, daily badges cost about 15% more and parking cost is double.  Actual sales of season badges, daily badges and parking is down from last year.  This does not indicate a healthy beach utility ready to take on more debt, or ready to give away money that belongs to it so Taylor can be “free”.

Of course I would like to see the beach and the rest of the town be a little quieter during the summer, but I don’t like seeing people have to pay more for things.  (I especially didn’t like the 10% increase in the cost of a season badge.)

Check out the recent revelation where the alleged increase in gnp 3 years ago was touted by media blitzes. Yep, it was a mistake. A BIG mistake there was no increase to speak of and that was a big election oops, another typo. SOUNDS familiar emphasis on liar.

Let’s see, less parking spots, at twice the price. South end beach more rocks and quarry dirt than sand. 3 story home to replace modest bungalow type. Seafood festival that could have been a disaster. Another special election to decide an issue that was decided last year. Borough employee suing a citizen for asking questions. A political committee suing citizens because they are concerned about the integrity of the voting process. The borough losing almost every suit it is involved in. I could go on and on. Lastly a mayor and council that have lost the trust of the residents because they LIE. We should do a reality series about Belmar.

@BILL STRAUS: more details on why the employee is suing a resident, who is the employee and what happened..

@Admin: you should do some research on lake como too while you’re at it… Ask lake como why their public works director Brandon Maas and the employees under him pocket the money they get from turning in the metal that tax payers drop off at the yard… If you or anyone else conduct an opra request on how much the town has gotten from the residents recycling metal, you’ll be really surprised… Ask the town to opra 2000 till now on metal profits 😉

If a Lake Como resident wants to do the OPRA I’d be happy to publish what they find. Otherwise we don’t know if it’s true or it isn’t.
