Seven towns relied on municipal court revenue to support more than 5 percent of their municipal budgets last year. They were: Lake Como (9.4 percent); Englishtown (9.3 percent); Belmar (6.8 percent); Point Pleasant Beach (6.5 percent); Allentown (5.2 percent); and Bradley Beach and Neptune (both 5.1 percent).

Without BAR A, Lake Como would have no revenue.

Apparently our (Belmar Police) must spend more of their time in Lake Como than the %25 that they pay for. Once again taxpayers of Belmar subsidizing police protection in Lake Como and filling their coffers. Great deal Matt!! I wonder if they ever squashed that heroin distribution ring in Lake Como that Matt spoke of trying to sell the merger.
Finally the )ight is SHINING. Instead of allowing such No nonsense businesses like those referenced in the article require maybe we should get off the most drunken town list and then you might not have to pay for the bloated pensions for 6 month civil services for exam associated police or DPW, #1 drunkard Atlantic City is Bankrupt after their hay day. Get private security paid by the BARS. MIRACULOUS taxes will go down.
Belmar’s addiction is the money from illegal activity fines and the beach fees. It’s amazing how the mayor touts the court revenues received, but at what price? Are all of the sacrifices in the residents lower quality of life worth all of this money, most of which is paid to police officers overtime?
