Sun correspondent Michelle Gladden (Hi Michelle!) reports that nearby Belmar landed on the bottom of the list.  Could that be right?

I clicked on the link she provided to the Consumer Affairs report.  They don’t really give you much information though.

I think there’s a mistake in the report (which is based statistics from 2014.)  For Belmar to have a traffic death rate of 157 per 100,000 population in 2014 we would have to have had 8 or 9 deaths that year.  That certainly isn’t right.  That terrible accident at the marina where the young lady from Howell died was in 2014, but I think that was the only traffic fatality that year.  There certainly weren’t 8 others.

According to City-Data, Belmar had fewer than 1 death per year for the years 1975 to 2013:
