Every single resident needs to read that letter. This administration constantly lauds the 0% municipal tax increase they’ve accomplished over the years. What an absolute joke ! Stealing from the beach to balance – good job Matt. See ya in court.

Belmar Guy – I checked the employees that I knew of.. they seemed quiet this year.. I am certain that the fraud continued – their defense is that legally these people can vote if they live here for a certain amount of time – even if seasonally.. .. most vote by mail in ballot and are given gifts (bottles of liquor/free drinks) to vote.. these are people who really don’t care about Belmar and would normally not vote..they don’t pay property taxes here.. they are essentially cheap whores who sell their votes.. I looked for news article about the case being thrown out. nothing yet?

Is arborcide a crime? Trees are helpful in controlling air pollution, like from car exhaust, and Belmar can expect more cars. The mayor is no friend of the environment. Environmental groups, pay attention.

Matt knows nothing about the five trees that would be cut down if Colleen Connolly has her way and using GRASS PAVERs creates a new drive ( that when the trees go ) into Maclearie Park at L-Street
and grass paver parking where the athletic filed now exists. You can access tis at Belmar.com, new projects. Therefore to say that Matt wants to pave over the athletic field would be inappropriate. You should know, that the funding ( Open Space- Monmouth County ) not too keen on grass pavers due to cost. If they hadn’t rejected PHASE II funding recently, Colleen may have been able to pave over the entire field. What you need is the lease for Chef’s Int. dated 12/11/2014 which inappropriately leases all of the K Street Marina Parking to Chef’s. So why do they even need Maclearie? Please don’t spread rumors or false information.
I always like to go back and read what others have said. Regarding Judge Gummer’s decision, Tom Burke wrote on his blog Tom Burke’s Belmar View, Nov. 3, 2014 in a rant entitles “Suffrage”
“For anyone, let alone a candidate for office, to make a blanket challenge of our residents right to vote is in my view a most grievous act.” Later he says ” Jim Bean and his assistors went too, entirely too, far.”
Not much later, the Attorney General of NJ sent a brief on the subject disagreeing with Mr. Burke’s ( not an attorney) view. And now , we have the judges decision. I am sure that Mr. Burke will join ranks with the mayor in a total disagreement ( based on personal issues ) with the court’s decision. Fortunately unlike Mr. Burke and the mayor, justice is blind.

In accordance with directives from the State of New Jersey, these loans were realized as revenue in various funds of the Borough for the year ended December 31, 2013.
The loans have not been recorded as loans payable on the balance sheets of the Borough. Federal guidelines stipulate that under certain conditions these loans may be forgiven. David Schneck, 302 C Street, was concerned about the promissory note writing that is listed in the community disaster loan resolution. Mayor Doherty explained that the worst case scenario is the loan has to be repaid over three years but 98% of the time the loan doesn’t have to be repaid. Mr. Schneck was concerned about using the Borough’s revenues as collateral. Mayor Doherty offered, Resolution 2013-151, RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR A COMMUNITY DISASTER LOAN, for adoption, which was seconded by Council member Deicke and approved by the following vote:
AYES: Deicke, Magovern, Nicolay, and Doherty NAYS: Bean
Prior to the vote Council member Bean stated he felt this resolution was not a routine item and shouldn’t be on the consent agenda. Mayor Doherty disagreed because it is part of the budget which was introduced. Council member Bean asked what the collateral is. Ms. Connolly stated the collateral is the Borough’s revenue in the form of a promissory note. Council member Bean felt there is a spending problem and the Borough doesn’t need a loan.

Prior to voting Council member Bean stated we are borrowing 4.5 million for expenses of 4.1 million to help balance budget and the long term financial plan is the hope that this loan turns into a grant which he is against. He felt the beach utility is devastated and the budget is decadent. Mayor Doherty explained how the community disaster loan works again. He also added that this is the third year there is no tax increase and is proud of the budget. He feels the Borough his in a strong financial position even though we are still overcoming the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.

Everybody should go down to the recycling center and look at all that military junk sitting there. That represents a lot of money we could use. All that has to happen is have a guy from the DPW cut it up with a torch and take the iron over to Mazza junk yard in Neptune and get what we can for it. There’s more junk under the water tower and out at the beach near the Fishing club.
We need to know who the “Public Service Director” will be inasmuch as Belmar’s response to the LC RFP sights Thomas Palmisano as the PSD?

Everywhere you look in town, you see that military junk. I jokingly asked the mayor if he were planning on attacking Avon with it and of course, he said yes. But it is an eyesore. It’s total junk and should be cut up and sold for scrap. But that could set off a row within our leadership about who gets what when it comes to splitting up the loot/money.

As far as I know. The military trucks are DPW’s to keep. But the hummers have to be returned when Belmar is done with them. They cant keep the hummers. I am more concerned with the speedboat. What Public Works needs a speed boat. Those military trucks are only useful in a big storm like the Sandy storm. But in the meantime all they will do is collect dust and rot away. I also heard the the DPW had a outside painter come in and paint the hummers. Must be nice to have money to blow.
The way things are looking, like possibly a bankrupt Belmar if the disaster “loan” does not become a grant, there will be a Belmar Borough Hall yard sale, with the military stuff included alongside the new police and DPW vehicles. Not having to repay the loan is wishful thinking, yet the mayor boasts that the borough has money, even creating a free beach day in May. Be careful, Mr. Mayor, the feds are listening and watching. If Belmar is so rich, it can afford to repay that loan! With money we do not have.
Oops, the free beach day was Labor Day, a potentially big money maker.

All the military surplus items remain the property of the military. Belmar must keep track of everything they have and when they’re done with it, back it goes.
#32 “when they’re done with it” – What are they doing with it? Everything’s just sitting around taking up space. At least cut it up and dispose of it at Mazza. Get the ladies at the library to issue a waiver to do it and when the fedgov wants their gear back just show them the official Belmar waiver and shrug their shoulders.
