Cost Of Corruption

The amended claim for $7 million more accurately represents the loss of income for the 2015 and 2016 summer seasons, Mr. McLaughlin told The Coast Star, during which time Salt remained closed while awaiting the transfer of the license.

In the claim, the Harmons allege the “borough and its police department have negligently or intentionally failed to investigate and otherwise process claimants’ application for alcoholic beverage license transfer,” naming the Borough of Belmar, the Police Department, the mayor and council, Matthew Doherty, Jennifer Nicolay, Thomas Brennan, Janis Keown-Blackburn,  Colleen Connolly, Thomas Palmisano and Chief Andrew Huisman.”

The claim goes on to state the aforementioned individuals “failed to respond to inquiries, failed to interview relevant parties and maliciously, intentionally or in a grossly negligent manner denied the aforesaid application, without legal or factual basis.”…….

………In response to the new claim, Mayor Matthew Doherty said, “I think the increase highlights how ridiculous their tort claim is. It is pure fantasy, whether they made it $7 million or $70 million, it doesn’t matter.”

What’s more ridiculous is the way this ass of a mayor handled the situation- he’s an embarassment to Belmar. I hope, for the good of the town, that the individuals mentioned in the lawsuit are somehow held personally responsible for this whole damn mess.

The mayor is in bed with Chef’s and they want the property so Colleen was told to stop it at any cost. So the only way the mayor will really care is if he loses in this election in Sept, he loses in Nov. and Brian and Janis lose in Nov. Then you residents can do what need be to recall him. Oh yeah Hillary needs to lose too.

If this keeps dragging on, it might reach $70 million. Such an arrogant comment from the Mayor

#4 – Are you honestly suggesting that NOTHING political happened with the lack of transfer from an EXISTING ABC license? Nothing out of the ordinary when the new Anchor got their transferred and opened for business? Are you standing by that?

#4. So true. In bed with Chef’s a brand solely owned by the Lombardi Bros. of Edison is ridiculous. To be factually correct, he should have stated it that Edison’s Matt Doherty was in bed with the Edison based Lombardi Restaurants Inc., solely owned by the Lombardi Bros. Afterall, how can you be in bed with a brand?

#7: From #4 “Mayor sleeping with the Chef” is a mayor-like twist of words. Must be a typo… So, who’s in bed with Thomas Edison??? See how things can get out of hand? I knew a guy named Myles Brand long time ago. Point made, I hope. (And how do you mean “knew”?) See?

What difference does it make? 7 million or 70 million?

Why does that sound familiar? The families know the difference as do the taxpayers of Belmar. Arrogance is as arrogance does.

Sleeping on the job or priorities conflicted? Whichever it is a dose of humility is needed in this borough, you decide.
