Does anyone remember when this blog use to be libertarian and stand up for their ideals? Where is your editorial on the borough’s 4%($400,000) tax increase this year? Didn’t Belmar just have a %18 increase? On borrowing even more money? Did Belmar even start to pay back the pavilions? If there is going to be a finance advisory board, why even have elections? It’s the perfect way to blame others for bad financial decision, which Belmar makes a lot of. …Don’t blame the Mayor, He was just following the finance boards advice…

At one point this blog use to give guidance, advice, and opinion. Now its all talking points or hiding under their desk. If anyone disagrees with Mayor Walsifer this blogs mob attacks and bullies. There is no liberty at home.

Its not the fact this administration is tax and spend. Its the fact that everyone including this blog has accepted and embraced it.

Proof is the borough admin’s behavior. Change the name to Colleen and this blog will go crazy. Change it to Kerschenbaum and its defended. How about a borough admin that doesn’t flaunt their power? Is that to much to ask? Or continuous tax increases, or payroll going up $800,000 in 2019 and this blog mentions it as a 4% increase to make the number seem smaller, or the closing of the boardwalk, marina, and stores in Belmar and this blog stays silent. Plastic bag, Styrofoam and plastic straw ban and this blog looks the other way.

This blog use to be here for the people. Please go back to that standard.

Yeah. The blog isn’t as interesting as it used to be. Lot of reasons for that. Maybe when I get a chance I’ll write a post about it.

Administrator no longer lives in Belmar, and still does the blog. Now he’s been scolded for what he does and doesn’t post. (?) Totally unjustified. How about a huge THANK YOU to Dave for continuing to keep his friends and neighbors from Belmar informed? Perhaps a different format is being utilized.I, for one, support it! It’s the administrator’s territory. So be it!

Did someone just say ANOTHER tax increase as other towns we service are lowering their taxes. Lake Como and SLH. This is total BS. Im calling on all of you people that used to sit there and blast the prior admin., of which I detested, and speak up. Bunch of sheepish a holes. Someone out there please defend these present money spending waste of time politicians or did you all just move out of Belmar. I AM NOT PAYING ANOTHER INCREASE IN TAXES. IM CALLING FOR PEACEFUL PROTESTS ON THESE INCREASES. So where are the cuts as these people just keep making more and more from the taxpayers. ENOUGH ALREADY. SOMEONE PLEASE START A PETITION. There are people out there that are never going back to a job they once had and now your talking about another increase. I don’t think so.

The season for malcontents is upon us. A pregnancy for an Elephant is 2 years. The white elephant in Belmar’s room was the loss leader Doherty and his bench person(s). It will take at least two years uncovering the dirt he left behind him. It will take at least that time to put Belmar back in its feet. Wake up people after a serious disabling event you have to take baby steps and follow the experts advice and rehabilitation.

#7 I totally agree we had 7 years of Doherty with no tax increases and out of control spending and bad business contracts with chefs and Lake Como, and stupid useless and vendetta lawsuits we should be happy that the tax increase wasn’t any larger

To a certain extent I agree. As far as I’m concerned, I accepted the idea that taxes would go up after Matt’s/Brian’s administration was gone. However, when it became clear, Walsifer lied and did not intend to reduce spending one cent (even increasing it), then he lost me. So now I completely understand it’s really a uni-party. No difference other than each may have different cronies they mean to reward.

#7 is on the money – the real reason for the last 2 years Tax Increases was the Mismanagement of the Borough for 7 years – by Doherty, Connolly & their gang- now add in the Civid-19 shutdowns and the long term effects on our Suffering small businesses – there’s added pressure on this administration –

Wow. Seems to me they just changed the flavor of the koolade. I guess the tax increase has nothing to do with the lack of spending cuts and the exorbitant salaries that are doled out like candy. I wonder how Lake Como and SLH can continue to lower their property taxes year after year. NAH, much easier to just blame the prior admin. year after year after year. Give me a f ing break

#13. Can you please elaborate? Just went by the Djais parking lot and they have moved those giant beige shipping containers to the south. They then fenced off the space where they shipping containers had been effectively enlarging their back beer garden substantially. Did they get approval for this from Zoning Officials?

The beach between 19th and 18th this past weekend was one giant drinking area courtesy of DJais to go drinks. Thank God the water is still cold keeping the drinkers out of the water. I feel bad for the lifeguards when The water warms up and there is a rough day when the drinkers will be venturing in.

15 – D’jais never got zoning permission to initial expand that outdoor area, yet have plumbing and electrical permits. They do what they want and everyone turns a blind eye. Good luck with the mess that they will now be allowed to expand there.

#20 – This is no big deal. Have the police or rental cops go down on the beach and give tickets for drinking on the beach and let the chips fall where they may. If some poor drunk, or even a lifeguard dies doing his job (Lord forbid), then it was their time. Interesting how this world works.

There is supposed to be a buffer between the residential property and the business property so reality they should not be using the outdoor space behind the building to begin with.I suggest a large presence on the next town meeting as “they got some splaining to do”!

Too late to complain. This has been coming for decades now. It started with the new manner of living and there’s no way of standing in front of this wave of debris. Best thing you can do is get out with bags and pick up the stuff. This is all bigger now than the “authorities” abilities to handle now.

Mr. Mayor, I read your comments in the paper this week “We absolutely CAN’T have big long lines at any of these establishments”. Talk a walk down to DJs all day and tonight and tell me what you see. You are a paper tiger. Frank owns the town – just ask him! Years back DJ’s was the epicenter for the mumps breakout and now it will be the epicenter for a Covid resurgence from Belmar to Bayonne to Hoboken to Staten Island.
