When do we start the recall petition?
So why does the mayor want to stay on the council if he can’t vote on almost everything?
Think about it. Now Matt can control and manipulate behind the scenes, and the council will vote how he wants AND he won’t be held publicly responsible. The council will take the heat.
Plus, really, where does he have to go?
Matt and Brian, the Trump vote had nothing to do with your Council and Freeholder election results, there was a hard working effort to stop Matt and remove Brian. Not sure why Janis lost and Brian didn’t but there was a strong effort, not a Trump coat tail. MM’s comment is correct, we should recall the scoundrel mayor if he does not step down. He is a disgrace.
Matt should apologize to the sign protest kid, as the kid was right…The mayor is a LOSER.

#10 – Sir, I can hardly be called a drinking man anymore (2 beers 2-3 times a week and home by 7:30). But midnight is too early for young people on a weekend. They should be allowed to let off steam after working all week.

Brian and Janis were in conflict when they voted on the liquor licenses. They received campaign contributions from the Monmouth County Democrats. They are in the same exact situation as the mayor.
We’ve been told that the campaign is going to reimburse the Monmouth County Democratic Committee for the flyers.
The damage is done with those mailers. They got the advantage with the negative ad and pay it back after!?!? What an abuse of pay to play that is.
Per Belmar ordinance, they are in conflict until the violation is cured. To “say” they will be reimbursing the Monmouth County Democrats doesn’t cure the violation. They should not have voted.
Reimbursement after 3 weeks and 3 glossy trash mailers seems 2 little – 2 late.
The candidates brazenly disregarded Belmar’s P2P law.
When you spill the milk you can’t un-spill that milk. Likewise when you run a red light you can’t undo the red light violation.
Brian and Janice you had and have a fiduciary responsibility of trust. You blatantly violated that trust. Your votes on the liquor licenses should be rescinded now as invalid and the resolutions passed 11/09/16 should,by law, be rescheduled to January’s calendar. Frank: empty threat?
Agreed, that vote should be a redo. Better yet, send all liquor license business to the state.
Also, months ago Tom Brennan recused himself from voting on a liquor license transfer because he might perform at that place. I guess he didn’t look into his crystal ball before voting this time ??? Jackass

If Matt is recalled, Brian becomes mayor and appoints another Democrat stooge to fill his council seat (Grosshandler or Read?). Then Matt will not influence the new mayor and council members – or will he still work behind the scenes to continue to ruin Belmar and profit from his contractor and developer contacts? Will Nicolay become council president? (God help us!) Will Brian change and become an admirable mayor who can think clearly and fairly, not looking for donations and pass-throughs for any future political campaigns? Will Brian actually learn something about trees? And if Matt will not be recalled or not resign, then what? Where could he go, really? Would his wife want a house husband with little or no income? Will the council members wake up and realize that the mayor has lost in every Belmar district and is not popular and continue to rubber stamp everything he wants (Walsifer excluded)? Can they make a turnaround and not be stooges any more? Stay tuned for “As Belmar Turns”.

Dear Council:
Belmar has too many bars and not enough space in the library. Please fund raise so you can enlarge the library.
Also, more Belmar bus trips please, why so few this year?
And more parks with flowers please. We need more open space to enjoy nature
#26 – I’m writing President Elect Trump and requesting Matt be made our ambassador to New Guinea. I think Matt’s performance/behavior was what swung Belmar to Trump.
He’d fit right in. Isn’t New Guinea the country that still has PRION disease where the natives were still cannabilizing each other up to the 60’s?
He could try to violate the civil rights of the people of New Guinea. Tribal law might have some unique rulings.
