Do They Hate Us Because We’re Free?

Or Do They Hate Us Because We’re Bullies?

From Wednesday’s APP:

Sanctions eyed in child abductions

The U.S. government would be able to pursue sanctions ranging from a public rebuke to trade and credit suspensions against countries that harbor children abducted by a parent, under a bill approved by a House subcommittee on Tuesday.

The bill from Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., is named The Sean and David Goldman Child Abduction Prevention and Return Act in honor of the Tinton Falls, N.J., man whose five-year fight to get his son back drew international attention.

So Representative Smith thinks that any country that hesitates to recognize a custody descision made by an American court involving a national of their own country, in the bill’s namesake case, Brazil,  should be at risk of suffering trade sanctions, which are an act of war.  But they hate us because we’re free.

And by the way, if they really do hate us because we’re free, well the joke’s on them isn’t it?.
