#2 What are you talking about? They are doing an excellent job, we have best people running the show and working on it. There is nothing negative. How am i doing Claire?
Belmar will now have the first “green” marina. This works with the 1996 Sustainable Living By The Sea. No fossil fuels to mess up the planet. Maybe it wasn’t Chef’s construction company, but actually the work of eco-terrorists. Bring on the row boat and paddleboat rentals. Just say NO to motor boats and yachts.
What will Belmar do now without the revenue stream from the sale of fuel for the boats? Have taxpayers make up for the loss? Are they no longer in the marina business? Oh, I forgot…they have the bar business. Boats can pull in, a guy could jump out, buy some brew, return to his craft, then sail or motor off. Happy trails!
#3-You’re doing great…keep up the good work! Positive comments always do well for the community! I know you’re not being sarcastic… You are speaking from the heart. See, I’m no longer belligerent….
I would want to know who did it , when did it happen , who is going to pay to fix it ? Is the contractor responsible for mark outs ? how much is this going to cost the town people of Belmar ? Repair Cost , Lost Revenue ?
Lets be honest you know the town is going to pay for this , there is no way Matt will ask Chefs to pay a dime. Just more cost shifted over to the good people of Belmar. 1st class operation that town.
#8-Oh….silly, naive me…. I had no idea that you were being sarcastic…. (are you retaining water, Ms Sarcastic? You are certainly off balance ….like I couldn’t figure out the true meaning of you words. It’s interesting that you can be passionate in the negative, but you are resentful that I am passionate in the positive… How recent is this gas leak?
EKCIED ERIAC your thoughts are backwards. As for the Marian Gas Station, there is about 2 million dollars in docking fees that have been paid for the upcoming season. How is it possible that the only gas on the inlet is not functioning for some 2 months now. The gas issue should be corrected ASAP, this is a major issue that a reasonable leader would address immediately.
#13. Like the lack of paring, ie: the forthcoming parking crisis? Our reasonable leader has given notice. He believes that will surfice.
p.s. Vote for Matt Doherty for Freeloader.
Summer Timer-How clever of you..is my name supposed to be backwards? Not done correctly…why are you on the attack? How many different names do you use on this blog ? Great getting to know you ….
Tell Matt there’s a camera team at the marina, he will show up and explain everything. Not the truth just a story to allow him to be on camera.
Do not vote for Matt for freeholder he will impact county money can, You can only imagine the financial devastation monmouth county residents will experience. Leave him in Belmar they will take him away.
Was it done incorrectly EKCIED ERIC. The marina has started to go downhill ever since 9th Ave Pier became a tenant. I have friends that would come and stay on their boat for the weekend but left for a more peaceful marina. When will the Hudson County thug start to respect the tax payers of Belmar.
#20 yes all the slips to the right of the bar are designated for 9th Avenue Pier customers only. They used to be for transient boats-more lost revenue!
The docks that are directly in front of Chefs can only accommodate small boats in the 20 ft range. This would be the only logical place to accommodate boat customers, but considering the size limitation, I don’t see that happening. However, over the past few years the number of boat slip not leased have noticeable increased, maybe they can designate a dock and lease it to Chefs. We can certainly use those funds to help pay down the 43million dollars debut created by our current leadership.
I believe the damage to the gas dock system was caused by the contractor that received the no bid $1,000,000.00 contract to replace the bulkhead in front of the new Chef’s International building. aka-the “emergency” bulkhead repair.
#29. Forget Brennan and the Harbor Commission, they are on a “need to know” basis. He has given 3 Harbor Comm. Reports at meetings since the situation with the fuel system AND not one word. Forget Elli Musso, Harbor Director- ONLY PERSON TO CONTACT IS Colleen Connolly the boss who all have to ask, and be answerable to. All else is a waste of time.
17-Loved that you used a Palindrome…see? I’m not being belligerent…just overwhelmed with your cleverness…Summertime .. Another attempt at my sBackwards name … To no avail ….incorrect… Give it another shot… Just trying to be supportive… I have such fun on this blog! Keep the clever remarks about me coming!
Claire you’re missing the point of the fuel or lack of fuel situation at our marina. We are supposed to be a full service marina with purpose of bring transient boats into Belmar to get supplies and spend money in town. We have been with out a fuel dock since 2/19 and the boating season is starting this is unacceptable. We need to be doing more to keep our slip renters happy not less, its bad enough the parking and the marina look like a bomb zone , now we have to have our renters go to Manasquan to get fuel. Even you can see the problem here, and as a tax payer I’m sure you would love to know how this happened and who is going to pat to repair the system. The fact that not a word has been said about this (Tom Brennan Harbor Commission ) is joke and shows a lack of respect for our slip renters. Think of all the boats on there way back from Fla. that could have stopped in our “beautiful” town and enjoyed all we have to offer and spending $$$ at the Taylors , Brandl’s, Rite Aide and yes getting fuel and dockage from the town and now watch them all stop a mile short at Manasquan or going 10 miles past to the highlands. Someone dropped the ball big time on this. I will leave you with one more question any idea who is responsible for calling in for “Mark Outs ” at the marina ?
Your right again EKCIED ERC. The Belmar Marina has a large impact on the local economy, if it is not fully functional. Most of the boats in the Shark River have gas tanks that require at least 200 gallons to fill. People will start bringing gas in large containers which is a disaster waiting to happen. Furthermore, boat mechanics, marina staff, bait stores, ice shops and tackle shops are all effected. Also the local charter boats use the gas dock effected to fill up their boat. I don’t have the exact numbers, but I will bet that the boating fishing industry in the Shark River is one of the largest industries in Belmar. How can this gas issue go unattended by the Belmar leadership????
I’ll go right off topic here. I just thought this up. Here’s the scenario. The two Republican candidates win in Nov. (Janis and Brian lose). Matt wins. The person who fills out Matt’s term is the failed cheerleader – YIKES!!!
To all of my fans…what a great thought ! I’ve been asked by many people to run for office again… More than I can count… Since it is mentioned by Joe, maybe I’ll consider it! Don’t think I’m a “failed” cheerleader… Folks are more on board with the mayor and council than ever.. Excited about the pavilion returning… Excited about no tax increases, and excited about living in Belmar…also, I’m not missing the point…understand completely what the problem is..good to know the problem is being addressed..
So I doesn’t bother you that the town could be paying for contractor error ? I’m sure the fuel Line broke all on its own. These are question the people should know the answers too ! As for the rest of your response clueless as usual. Can’t wait too the two new beer gardens in town
19- Clueless? Does it bother you, to use your words, that you can’t come to the realization that you are humorous? The problem is being resolved ……how many fake names do you use? Your words are oddly familiar…your tone I has a condescending tone …how would you like to meet for coffee? Then I’ll demonstrate to you just how clueless I am … I know you… We met a few years back … at the time you were complimentary … In a most insincere way… If you don’t want to meet for coffee I can stop by your home ..Your tone and word choices are revealing..
#19-Really? If I had details I would have included them…you’ve joined the ranks with those who refuse to understand that maybe, just maybe the problem isn’t easily solved… And resort to name-calling…the lowest form of communication…but why am I not surprised…negativity breeds more negativity… You are on the bandwagon…let’s crucify the town leaders … Let’s make the community seem faltering…when none of this is true….but I’ll be stopping by your house to sort things out….I anger commenters when I say everything is going well ….if commenters had their way only negative remarks would be allowed….Bravo Adminis

Put a fuel apparatus at the marina immediately or give the slip rental back to mitigate the damages. Errors and Omissions again.
WHAT NO CODE BLUE ?

How come the EPA wasn’t called? Was any fuel spilt into the river?

Sounds like what we used to call, a Chinese fire drill.

You’re suppose to tank up at the bar silly. This is the Doherty legacy.

#17 good one!!!!!
Question. Does anyone know if Chef’s is entitled to have privileged dock space available for their customers’ use, anything in contract?
They have all the slips north of the pier
#20 yes all the slips to the right of the bar are designated for 9th Avenue Pier customers only. They used to be for transient boats-more lost revenue!

Only if chefs gets a dedicated fuel line I guess.
EPA, DEP, friends of Shark River, anyone? Looking into fuel line fx

Fix ? Who broke it ? Who’s paying to fix it ?
I’m a little unclear on whether someone broke it or if they just closed it and it’s late to reopen.
Why not ask Tom Brennan? He is on the harbor commission no? tbrennon@belmar.com
