I’m concerned there are no comments to this post. There are discussions on other topics but this topic we are silent. My heart goes out to this woman and her family. It concerns me that help was not there for a lengthly period of time.I was not there so I don’t
know the facts. It disturbs me that a vehicle runs 2 people over and we can’t find that person and that another human has no conscious. What do we learn from this? The environment that we have created is unsafe and when someone is in need of medical services are they tied up with intoxicated individuals at the hospital? If so we need to have a better plan because there are boatloads of drunks that will take up valuable time when another is in need for a more serious matter. It shows me we are unsafe to simply walk around at night because of alcohol or drugs. Many on this site have spoken about curbing of behavior in other towns and it’s about time Belmar get a grip on what we allow. If this a was your child you would be outraged and heartbroken.I know I am.

Vicky. #3 is correct. I’m sure , as we write, that Chief Coneman and crew are working overtime, to the tune of over $100/hr. to catch this person. Wait till your taxes go up another 10% next year. We need to cut the fat out of this budgets, too many little piggies in a one square mile town. Compare our 16M budget to other similar towns, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights, Bradley, Avon. It’s enough to make you puke.
Is there a possibility that the person who took their life on the train tracks in Monmouth County last week could be the suspect? No disrespect at all… just wondering if anyone else has thought this?
#6 I’m not sure where that thought came from ,but if you know something please contact the police department.I’m sure knowing the type of vehicle he drove would be evidence,or friends vehicles he had access to. If the person backed up to run her over a second time did she know him? This person needs to be found and prosecuted.I’m sure body shops would know if a vehicle is being repaired or altered. The person who took their life on the tracks would have to have something in common with this event, if not let that person rest in peace.
#1…. You are 100% correct, I have been wondering as well why no comments… As a parent of 3 kids, safety is my biggest concern… Good schools & safety make for quality towns….. Belmar is lacking in both departments….
Lack of first aid because they are dealing with South Belmar drunks makes me very upset Mr.Walsifer, please address this issue.Maybe a bar with 5,000 patrons is too much for us to handle.How many ambulances are on standby on theses drunken summertime nights?
Reggie should pay for Ambulances on the ready for 5 (five) thousand people at his bar regardless of the 11 million in Alimony.
wow! 11 million ? is bad but 1 unnecessary death would be tragic. It’s not a bad idea for mega bars to pay to have responders ready for transportation to the hospital especially since over intoxication may be the source of the problem. This problem needs o be separate from every day health issues. Self inflicting drugs and alcohol into your body by overdosing and overindulging is different than having a stroke or heart attack. As a community we need to discuss workable solutions.
If there are ambulances, first aide, fire and police are required to be on the ready for the special events held in and about Belmar for example, RUNS, why cant, given the real number of people x 3 each weekend day at BA, Djais, be required by the ABC or the let’s make a deal squad in Belmar PD?
Bar Anticipation was selling liquor in the parking lot last night.I guess that is what parking lots are for these days.
13 – D’jais has been selling liquor in their rear yard at a bar that was constructed with no approvals from the borough. I am sure without proper electrical, plumbing, and construction permits also. This Mayor and Council, like the past, continue to ignore this issue.
14, Anyone who may receive a ticket for construction without a permit should site to the judge the D’jais expansion of their property without permits. Bam!

Vicki is right. It’s a travesty that this person hasn’t been caught. Hopefully they have a conscience and is suffering from crippling guilt or they will turn them selves in.
The fact of the matter is that bennies and locals speed around the streets of this small town with impunity. There is not, nor has there ever been, the political will to change it. If you want people to stop speeding and driving recklessly, crack down hard. Eventually the word gets out and behaviors change. If the police start a robust campaign to go after speeders, in two months, the word will be out. Do not speed in Belmar, you will get a ticket.
They and many other head in the sand political types pretend they don’t know anything about this blog.
#17…. Its all about the towns culture, until the proper individuals are elected to office nothing will change…. Just walked back home from beach and police officers on bicycles were riding on the sidewalk…. I guess they realize the streets are not safe, because motorist are driving around town out of control….
#19 – The idea of police officers riding around on bicycles on the sidewalk is the result of the new manner of living. Bicycles traditionally were meant to be ridden in the street. But now, because of the new manner of living, people don’t have that ability anymore. Nor do the drivers (drunk or sober) have the ability to interact with the bicyclists. So the situation requires the bicyclist to ride on the sidewalk. It’s just that every ones abilities are degenerating very fast anymore. This is just the new way of things.
NJ has 6 million licensed motor vehicle drivers … Proposed changes to NJMVC rules would add +700,000 … new drivers!
