In this most recent episode of redevelopment Belmar style, one of the only truly blighted properties the Icehouse under a win/win redevelopment agreement becomes a Loose/Loose. Why Lawless Matt and Borough officials are determined to punish the Harmons and the developer will eventually see the light of day. For now, the taxpayers in Belmar must be vocal and let these elected and appointed officials know that they have gone over the line. They have authority because we gave it to them. When they are gone, and I hope that day is soon, we the people of Belmar will be stuck with a town that businesses will avoid. On my birthday, the owner of the restaurant visited the table. He shared even back in 2011 and 2012 he was approached by officials to open an operation at the Marina. Red flags went up over and over again and he walked away. How many credible and talented business people have done the same? We will never know what they have said and done representing us. Salt is a classic example and is now public knowledge and it is time to let folks no that we stand for fairness and the bullies in office in no way represent the good residents of Belmar.

The problem for the citizens of Belmar and the County is that matt does not care what anyone thinks. He has his personal political agenda for “fame and fortune” and that is all that matters to him. The money influences who can support him so they make more money and he makes more money is all that matters in that equation.

    3. Katrina. My point is that there are people many who are not authorized to do so who work behind the scenes making deals, offering deals and incentives on our behalf. We will never know because of the lack of transparency. After this or maybe before this businessman and restaurant owner didn’t like the smell and walked, a group Calais LLC went all the way to elevation studies in 2012 for the Main Marina Parcel Building that included a bar and restaurant on the second floor AND fit within the permitted footprint and multiple usage per the 2010 CAFRA permit. When asked what happened at a subsequent Council meet , Lawless Matt stated that they could’nt, work with them. No other remarks.

I have been seeing a pattern of behavior with Lawless Matt. It becomes more apparent using the LOKO LLC ( Kapalko/Harmon ) case.
When you read the October 19,2015 Planning Board Minutes online at Belmar.com and compare them to the appearances and applications by Chefs International AND last weeks council meeting you see that the mayor is either absent ( like last week) or recuses himself as with the Harmon revised application on October19, 2015. Why would the mayor recuse himself as a member of the Planning Board for this specific hearing? I find no other cases of this in 5 1/2 years. You also see a concerted effort ( unlike Chef’s ) to put the redeveloper through the wringer. Hence lining up the attack dogs ahead of the meeting and leaving the scene. Different strokes for different folks. I dare anyone to show me where extension of patron capacity and drinking for the Mayor’s buddies: 10th Ave. Burrito, 9th Ave. Pier and presently DJais even bothered to bring those changes before the Planning Board. Even Burke and Hoffman were complicit in the Mayor’s attacks on Timmy Harmon in 2015. Needing new blood, step up Ollie Klein and the poster children of integrity Gene Murray, Jen Nicolay and Janis Keown-Whatever. Roof!

TO: A Voter- Comment #9, I wish things would get appropriate on the Council, but I don’t see why or how they would change. I have never understood the mindless blind rubber stamp of the Council to support everything matt wants…The Council members look stupid and pathetic, but they keep doing it.

#’s 14 to 18. Chef’s is a brand owned by Lombardi Restaurants, one of several Lombardi family corporations, Edison, NJ. ( Did I say Edison?) which include Lombardi Realty and Lombardi Construction. Bob Cooper started a bartender in one of their restaurants. He owns no shares, he is an employee. All of this can be easily found by searching the above online. There are no Chef’s corporate offices, only a P.O. Box in Pt. Pleasant. Going after Bob Cooper is like going after the manager and not the owners of Surf Taco, 10th Ave. Burrito.

Enough is enough. I think if everyone that has had it like me, flood the state and county attorney general’s offices and respectfully request that an audit take place immediately and to investigate why a Mayor has to be continuously sued by residents for violating civil rights and having a bar coursing employees that are not even residents to call voters to mail in ballots for democrats and the seniors being coursed to vote democratic as well as violations of campaign donations!

I would like to inform those that do not know with the form of government we have (strong mayor weak council) nothing is happening that the mayor has not ordered. Until that is voted out we stay as we are. Put in a new mayor it runs the same way. Change the form of gov’t and we are 1 of 2 towns in the state that has this form and we are off to recovery . The council had for years a mix of people and politicians running the town and it worked. Maybe that should be brought back.
