Belmar residents pay something north of $8 million every year in state income tax. Belmar residents now get back from that fund only $939,000, down $26,000 from last year. Belmar residents are told the problem is they’re taking for than their fair share and that their property taxes are too low.

I have an idea. Let’s renegotiate the PILOT contracts that Doherty and his merry band of idiots approved and carve out some of the ‘payment’ for the school to offset the budget shortfall. Anyone? There are three brand new, gigantic, mixed use structures in town that wont pay a dime to the school. I know that the contracts have already been executed and renegotiating may be mute but the town CAN decide to allocate some of the money already coming in from the projects and give it to the school. It’s not the best outcome, but with the way we’ve been screwed by the former admin, it may be the only choice.
Enough with the school .Combine schools sell the building! Cut costs.
