The following day the sorority sister who had made all the email arrangements with Brian wrote to Brian and the mayor.

The simple question is why weren’t they told they would need a permit in January or February or March or April or May or June or July or September?
I don’t believe for a second that Matt only became aware of the planting 1 week prior.
If Doherty were a dog, he was waiting to pee on the tree. He still may.
Let’s not portray McGovern as good intentioned, but confused any longer. He’s just as much of a bully as Matt Doherty these days. If someone has the power to stop a bully, but they directly or indirectly aid the bully, they are guilty as well. If a big bully is beating up someone in a schoolyard, the onlookers that do nothing to prevent the bullying, the onlookers that laugh, and the teacher that looks the other way are just as guilty in bullying.
I’d like to hope that Brian McGovern as Belmar Recreation Director of many years did everything he could to stop any instances of bullying that occurred in soccer, basketball, baseball, or junior lifeguards. I’d like to hope that if my child reports a bully at Belmar Elementary that music teacher Tom Brennan would do something to prevent it in his class or on his watch.
The difference here is that the council are the onlookers, Doherty is the bully, and the victims are the people of Belmar and their families. By doing nothing, the council is just as guilty as Doherty. The amount of lawsuits people have won over Doherty coupled with the existence of this very blog and all the tension in Belmar tells the story.
McGovern, Brennan, the rest of the council, and whoever else is reading this that is guilty, how can you live with yourself enabling this? How can you look in the mirror especially as someone that worked with kids for most of your lives and allow this bully to do this. There is 0 justification for allowing this to go on any longer. Take the blinders off and accept that Matt Doherty is a bully. It has absolutely nothing to do with party affiliation. This is a bad man in charge.
Shame on you. If you don’t have the courage to stand up to this bully, I’m sure someone else that puts morals ahead of their political agenda will. Someone new can not possibly do worse because you already enable him to the fullest extent.
I’m calling on you both to resign and let someone else stand up to this bully. I would be willing to bet that the majority of Belmar feels the same no matter how many votes DJais is able to fluff from thin air.
The mayor learned of the tree planting when it was first posted on this blog, whenever that was. I know this to be true, or I wouldn’t bother writing this.

5- I hope it means he spends too much of his time scouring the Internet (this blog, Facebook, etc) trying to keep an eye on his political opponents and those with morals that find him reprehensible so when the time comes, he can strike back with his vindictiveness.
Katrina, I commend you for your courage to stand up to that bully. If only we had more strong people like you and Joy, the world (and thus Belmar) would be a much better place. In the end it’s not democrat vs republican but good people vs bad people that matters. I hope people realized that when they saw you stand up to him.

And what is everyone on this blog criticizing the mayor and police chief for having her removed from The meeting ? She carried on in an inappropriate way. I’ve lived in other communities and attended council/committee meetings in other towns . Nowhere would her behavior been accepted. Check out any other community. Katrina is an angry person. I understand she’s lost clients because she brings up Belmar issues at her job. Realizing she’s angry about the tree planting . Actually, the mayor was good about the situation in only requiring a permit. When Ms Desantis ran for office many years ago in Freehold her opponents weren’t as kind . The mayor could have rehashed all of that, and never did, even when she investigated him , and when she constantly criticized him at meetings. Politics is a funny business . It still could been an ugly situation, no matter how long ago these things occurred. He no doubt knows of her history in Freehold and at the the Belmar polls, where reliable sources reported her behavior . I wouldn’t push this any longer . The mayor will never bring any of this up. But someone else might. Certainly, the loss of Ms Desantis to her family and friends is tragic . A loving mother, wife and friend..Katrina is being perceived as a loose canon by friends and foes alike . Thank the mayor for his discretion and empathy. People in Freehold or anywhere else wouldn’t let this rest. Let Ms Desantis rest in peace. Don’t encourage those nice sorority sisters to continue. I don’t wish to see them, daughter, or other members of her family get hurt. Perhaps Ms Klapsis should seek professional help to control her anger. She’s hurting everyone . Continuing-I learned all this about Ms Desantis just by googling her name. That’s how I put things together with my above comments. Anyone can do this, and cause terrible trouble for her family, if, in fact, MsKlapsis continues to bring the tree planting into the spotlight . Was the tree planted? Let it rest. You’ll cause more harm than good.

#7- Thanks for your contribution Matt. (or Colleen, or Brian, or Tom, whichever crony wrote that.) Seems like your boss wanted to release that Freehold information without anonymously. Regardless, “The Mayor” spit on a woman’s grave so to speak. Ignore this crony’s ignorance Katrina. The majority supports you. Huisman’s time will end when Matt gets run out of town. Same with all the cronies. Eventually he’ll be gone and they’ll be hated for enabling him. And “anonymous” you can add yourself to the enablers albeit on a small scale.
Now the peanut gallery is hurling threats against the DeSanctis family and the late, great Joy DiStefano DeSanctis who selflessly fought for the underdog, exploited children and ultimately the people of Belmar.
Can you believe the vitriol and threats that are being alluded to just because a group of young women wanted to plant a tree at Silver Lake for a woman who they admired and loved?
Something really smells at 601 Main Street, Belmar, NJ. Just read the blog or the Superior Court of Monmouth County Decision of Judge Gummer and Transcripts and you’ll see who is credible and who is not.

11-Not so. No one put me up to this. Mayor would have been more likely to bring this up when Ms. Desantis was alive. When she brought issues up at public meetings. Not now.Not one of his inner circle. I hear things from folks in town. Defending Ms. Klapsis is your privilege. But please explain why she said something about Saturday night, as she screamed and was escorted out of the meeting? Many people view the meetings online. Have you been to other town meetings throughout the county? ,#11? The police chief was doing his job. There is a strict code of behavior put into place at all public meetings. Yelling from the audience and insulting the mayor wouldn’t have been acceptable ANYWHERE. Your perception is off base. People in town who viewed the meeting video were shocked at her behavior, and think her name-calling in the letter in the COAST STAR demonstrated her hatefulness. She acts like an immature child. Once, without any definite proof, she stood up at a meeting and said that Councilwoman Nicolay might not be able to vote for some reason.Bound and determined to bring the council members down. This seems to be her life’s calling. The attorney found her incorrect.Nitpicking. I haven’t been to a council meeting, but watch the videos. There is a serious problem with a person who won’t let things go. Ms Klapsis won’t let up even though the tree was planted. She is always angry and overwrought.I hope she finds happiness soon.

#7 Do I recognize a threat of some sort in all that babble? If the mayor never heard of a permit to plant a tree how did a resolution become involved. Even if a permit was supposed to be had how could it take from Januaty to the middle of October to inform the planter? I would like to suggest that everyone in this town is not brain dead and can read and hear what is going on. The mayor has so many problems he

She never comments anonymously. And she would have spelled Joy’s name correctly.
I’m glad to see Matt’s got his minions taking to the web to anonymously defend him. We’re really under his thin skin now. The jig is up. He’s disgraced himself far too many times. And speaking of Google… you’ll learn a lot about Lawless Matt’s character from all of his losing lawsuits.
I’m thinking of Voting for Murphy in the hopes he will appoint Matt to something/anything in Trenton and get him the Heck out of Belmar.
