Vote No and encourage matt to resign. He is shameful, a disgrace and a no-show mayor.

If the Mayor’s legal advice is yes, how come they keep losing lawsuits????? He also does not mention in the letter protecting conflict of interest with regard to his wife’s clients or potential clients, how convenient.

A silly question, but is that Mr. Doherty’s personal “Belmar” logo at the top of his personally paid for letter?

I would not put any trust in the council’s unanimous votes on anything. Independent and knowledgeable thinking from any of them is rare.

I wish Matt had the brains for law school, then at least he might have a modicum of respect for the law or for ethical leadership. But, sadly, no.

I think, if the mayor were a lawyer, he would know more ways around the law and how to use it for his nefarious purposes. He would be even more dangerous than he is now. Someone either has integrity or not, lawyer or layman. Clever is as clever does, good or bad.

Perhaps if Mr. Doherty ( I’ll call him that since he no longer can act as our Mayor because of all the conflict of interest issues) had gone to law school – or really any school for that matter since I’m no lawyer – he would know you can’t appeal a vote (as he’s promised to do if he loses Tuesday) I mean …

“If you vote yes it stops one of Ken Pringles lawsuits in it tracks”
    WHAT!!!!!
    Mayor and council ALREADY LOST!!!!!!!
Judge already ruled. Belmar found to have violated our civil rights and forced to comply to the LAW and Judge set date for election. The yes vote has NOTHING to do with stopping anything in its tracks,,,except protection for our residents against political corruption.
And what the heck a donation from the pba has to do with a liquor license vote is beyond me….. And beyond what our original ordinance says.
And really far out is “both political party’s are immune under the old ordinance “. Immune from what? The flu?
an independent candidate would follow the same rules as a candidate from either party.
Matt Dorehty has cost the residents of Belmar tens of thousands of dollars for his own political gain. The shame is that he has to be sued in order for him to follow the law. The shame is his constant disregard for the law. The shame is he thinks he is above the law
