Porta-Pottys Back In The News

Although it’s not as sensational as the 2014 porta-potty imbroglio, those who frequent Maclearie Park feel that it’s pretty damn scandalous they’re still having to use porta-pottys 3 1/2  years after Sandy irreparably damaged the permanent toilets there.

MACLEARIE PARK 8-30-15 011

Five minutes into Tuesday night’s Borough Council meeting, William “Bill” Strauss of the newly formed Maclearie Park Neighborhood Association presented the Council with a petition with a preposed resolution for the Council to finally built a permanent, ADA compliant, toilet facility on the site using the grant money that had already been committed to by the state.

In what only can be described as an amazing coincidence, the Belmar Democratic Committee announced the following morning that grant money had allowed Belmar to begin refurbishing the park 11:00 that morning:

MAC1

Apparently Theresa Pringle, who lives near the park and is a member of the association, is unhappy with the way this has all down down with all the broken promises and whatnot.  Better make her go away!

gone1

Where’d Theresa go?  Uh, oh..she’s back!

mac2

Go away, Theresa!

To have public hearings for funding after the plans are done and council approved, leads to this!!!!

Belmar spends 825,000. we get 25% of that in grant. At the same meeting 8/19/14 Colleen gave a resolution for vote. the resolution which passed gave her total authority over the Maclearie Park project PLUS indepted the taxpayers or the balance of the $7.1 million. Later Open Space Phase I, $500,000. Grant at 50%.Phase II just denied, Dec.2015.

Whoever posted to Dem posting needs to zip it. First 10’s of thousands of folks from all over, NJ, NY and PA use the park every year. What was their input? Second, the plans were presented but no minutes 3/13,2013. The plans were not discussed the following April 2014 meeting if minutes had been taken, you would know that.Extremely revised plans, NOT APPROVED BY GREENACRES OR OPEN SPACE presented 7/30/15 and the feedback was overwhelmingly negative. Again no minutes BUT, thanks to Theresa Pringle we have a complete audio tape, now on disc. We learned from the prior meetings. We have proof that not one thing or change to the Maclearie Park Plans came from residents, but despite what Maser told Monmouth County, they all go back to Colleen and what she decided.

The MPNA is concerned there is an alterior motive with the bathroom issue, we may not agree here, if not what is correct. Please look at the plans for the Park tell me if there should be concern. Here Claire, let me show you an example, I am wrong sometimes, I can be accusatory, pugilistic, and even angry, you can say these things, but no Democrat ever says anything bad about Matt, NEVER. never says he does anything wrong. We are mad about that. We can’t have dialogue when Mark Levis can’t admit to me s simple misdeed that the mayor does. Or Brendan reed never says he goofed. Or Colleen is answerable to no one other than Matt You see Claire an honest discussion needs integrity. I will start here, tell them they will never put a parking lot in the MP athletic field, I will chain myself to it and die there to stop them. Tell them I don’t fear them, I’ve been on the operating table more than 20 times, Matt couldn’t change my bedpan to stack up, against my suffering. I told the council at one meeting last year I will try to not be pugilistic, but that does not mean I will lay down and take something that is wrong, but rather I will fight hard to be heard. There are so many violations with the Marina and Maclearie park it ‘s hard to fathom. There is such a disregard for regulations, laws, protocol, and respect, that people have had it. But residents can’t get heard so it’s now in the hands of the DEP, EPA, Green Acres, Open Space, and CAFRA. In the dems facebook the mayor thanked everyone he likes, not a word of thanks to the MPNA, or the residents who are concerned about the park. IT IS A FACT via Belmar Maclearie Park revised plans for Maclearie Park, scrapped the permanent restrooms and substituted a portable restroom trailer. I don’t think so-the information I received is….ADA compliant facilities at the park-what negativity on you part,#4-opposition enjoys twisitng and turning things to suit their beliefs–wishing to put me in a bad light—glad you know what an adjective is!! You obviously enjoy playing games because you don’t use your real name- that’s playing a game of sorts, don’t you think? Hiding your identity? Like a child? You brought up playing games, I didn’t..always poisoning the flow of progress-that’s what the oppostion does-go to it, game player!

What followed? SILENCE (Actually, Ms. Connelly had said at one point Maclearie Park’s lawn could handle overflow parking.) Really?!! Is anyone in doubt what the “redevelopment” of Maclearie is all about. We know the answer, the question is how do we stop it!

  82. #3-You proved my point about your limited knowledge of your own language-babbling has to be with verbal-not written expression-poor coice of wording….list of Mayor Doherty’s accomplishments as per your request:
set up a system of communication with residents-codes red and blue
cut through red tape so that businesses had an easier time of opening in Belmar
Established programming for senior residents, children and handcipaaed individauls-cooperating with Circle of Friends
Downtown has never been more prosperous

opened communication between residents and himself-with office hours open to the public when he first became mayor
crossed party lines to get assistance during Hurricane Sandy
Worked hard to bring the town back from the devastating Hurricane Sandy-better than any other shore towns-under difficult circumstances-with all of the very real problems presented with the hurricane, he had to contend with undue criticism from the opposition at every turn..they had no understanding of the myriad of problems/situations occurring with Sandy-it was constant bashing by the opposition-very hurtful to those of us who were doing our utmost to help people/bring the town back after Sandy

shows compassion for residents who are ill/homebound-visits them regularly, then assists them in every way possibleis responsile for installing ramps for those individuals with wheelchairs

kept taxes stable for 5 years
.Connects with local organizations whenever possible

    Secures grants for the community
Seeks ways to bring revenue to the community to offset the tax burden on residents

If I had more time, there would be more reasons to support Mayor Doherty-so at your request this list will be ongoing…
Remember-you started this-by criticizing my wrriten expression…what, no compliments about my writing career as posted earlier? Also, a while back, the APP ran a contest on memories of growing up in the shore area-maybe 10 years or so ago-out of 300 entries, I won-if you decide you need assistance with written expression, I’d be happy to assist!
One more thing- the mayor initiated the San Gennaro Festival here in Belmar-honoring my people!!
