Who else is running?
Well Tom Burke is running for the Republican nomination but doesn’t have any support within the Belmar Republican Committee. I expect another candidate that the Committee can support will be making an announcement within a couple of weeks.
With over half of the people voting Democratic the Republicans have no shot unfortunately no one cares about what politicians do rather what they get!!! That goes federal as well they want their free phones food stamps free medical etc.
Is there food there? If so, expect big turnout.
As a councilwoman, I never received anything for free-paid my way at every turn….nor did I ever seek favors..there is a moral/ethical/law-abiding code here……whether it is at a local, county or national level…..in answer to #3……Claire
I want to know whom she is fighting to keep taxes down, as stated in the recent newsletter. And how will she do it.
#5 I don’t know who you are and was not accusing you of any wrong doing. From what I have seen in the decisions made it does not appear to be on the residents best interests.
What has she done for women in Belmar? Would be nice to see some special programs for women and investing, women and health, and activities geared to women like afternoon tea, crafting, reading club….
Here’s an easy question… Who is paying for this thing at 10th Avenue Burrito ? Was it donated ?
I’m sure the Democrats are paying. If 10th Ave donated, it would open up a whole can of worms with the campaign finance laws.
Jen is heavily involved with Paint The Town Pink-she’s heading up the event for this May in Belmar-this is a Meridian Health initiative to spread the word about the importance of mammograms for the early detection of breast cancer-as a breast cancer survivor, Jen has been involved in spreading the word about mammography for quite some time-Jen is also a member of Belmar Cares-a breast cancer support group-and has participated in the many activities that support women with cancer……I’d say she’s done a great deal for women…..Jen also supports the health fair….held in Belmar each fall……many opportunities at the fair for people to have blood pressures checked, etc…#8..if you’re interested in a book (reading) club, the Belmar Woman’s Club has such an activity-we meet the last Thursday of each month at 1pm at the Belmar Library-we read books, with lively discussion of the same to follow-I thorough enjoy these sessions-actually, The BWC would a wonderful club for you to join if you’re looking for things for women to do-many varied activities-card parties, etc.
Claire I spy campaign manager
Some ideas for Belmar that perhaps she would be interested in:
more garden spaces with benches
a new library for adults
fundraisers to provide school trips to students
events for Earth day, such as planting new trees
rezoning ocean ave to eliminate bars
getting unsafe cars off the streets of Belmar
providing laptop computers to all students
#13-I like all of your suggestions….#12…the titles I’ve received with the commentary of this blog are ongoing……..meatball maker, full of it, saint…..(among other not so flattering titles)…….and now…spy-WOW….and the beat goes on!
#8. I have nothing against anything you say except for the last thing. I don’t believe it’s a good idea to let women read.
There’s no telling where that can lead. Much too dangerous.
Claire calm down it’s a game called I spy
You obviously don’t know me-or my sense of humor-of course I know it’s a game-my comments are off/again-on/again -attached with humorous reactions-actually, I recently had some fun with ms perspicacity (aka despicable me) who called me a saint twice-in separate commentaries(sarcastically)-I acted thrilled about my “sainthood”…..but I was joking! Couldn’t you get the hint when I used meatball maker? I advise YOU to calm down-get a sense of humor-it’ll help you to calm down….
Claire- is the Belmar Democratic Committee so embarrassed of the way Belmar beach looks that they use a picture of Spring Lake beach in their logo instead? I am sure any number of local photographers would give you a picture of the Belmar shoreline if you asked:)
Ben #18 They don’t care what you think or what they do they have lots of support. If they did care what goes on, we would not have the antics in the court etc. etc.
#18-What are you referencing? I’m not sure…
CLAIRE #20-I am referencing the picture of the ocean on the Belmar Democratic Committee’s letterhead. It is Spring Lake beach, not Belmar.
#21-I’ll look into it-
Elected officials should conduct business, like reading and understanding all the Belmar ordinances that are on the books and proposed so they understand what they are voting on or overseeing and can ask intelligent questions. Social projects are nice but should be secondary to running the town properly and ethically. Maybe look into taking some government and fiscal management courses? Commenter #13 has some good suggestions that would benefit the majority of residents, not just females and children.
The good mayor relegates councilwomen to social directors.
