What “Boycott”?
The anonymous propagandist running “Belmar View” is lying to all three of it’s readers:
I challenge anyone to find anywhere on these pages that I call for a boycott of any Belmar business, or anywhere that Jim Bean has. This is just pure bullshit.

Wow. This is some crazy stuff. What the heck are they talking about? What boycott? If anything it seems the Republicans have retreated quietly. who ever these bloggers are they are underhanded cowards, hiding in the shadows. Your right Dave it’s bull shit!!
Well, there are always shoppers in and out of the stores. So nobody is boycotting the stores.
Belmar has a great Main St. that makes the town hub an interesting place to eat and shop, shop, shop.
Jim Bean is still living rent free in Matt Doherty’s brain. Dave, you just doubled Belmar’s view hits by printing this. Like MSNBC, with out falsehoods, Belmar’s view wouldn’t have anything to write about. MSNBC and Belmar’s view are both Democratic mouthpieces. Go figure. The party of slavery, separate but equal, and lower standards of living. so proud, enjoy Belmar.
Apparently, the author is advocating the suppression of consumer choice …. If a business wants to play politics, or otherwise influence the electorate, they alone are responsible for the result …. up or down.
Let the consumer decide.
For the record, this ‘belamr view’ should in no way be connected to what I write on facebook under the title of “TomBurke Belmar View”. I don’t know if the title is designed to suggest that it is me who is writing it, but it is not.

It must have been a slow news day for this anonymous Belmar View cat.
I always shop in Belmar. I can’t make it to Rt. 35 anyway.
I’m laughing at this repost that I only read reprinted here rather from that desperate other blog. Slow news day I guess for them. I will wait and see what happens in Belmar which will be unmistakable by summer and into next winter. If business is slow on Main Street now it’s because no one paid any attention to the master plan when deciding what type of businesses to open, where to build them and most importantly the type of client to attract. There is a bigger picture for financial success for our small town businesses ignored for advancement of personal gain for those in charge and/or part of the council and planning board. Look at them for the lack of financial success in town. We are a beach town that is largely without tourists and income in the winter and unless you have a type of business that can be sustained financially through these very slow months I hope your financial planning can carry you. However I will say on a personal note that my family will not patronage any of the businesses that signed their names to political ads or actively supported any political side during the last or any previous elections. It’s just not good for business and I run one successful business. The choice to take political sides shows me a lack of good business practices likely also evident in the businesses’ operations or products so I stay away on principle. Maybe people are just fed up with the crooks in this town. Time always reveals everything.
I might add that this is one person’s personal preference about what businesses to patronize and is not any sort of organized “boycott”.
Belmar View does not allow comments to any of their posts. Ridiculous!
That really is funny but it has raised my curiosity so I’m just wondering, How many Belmar business owners actually live in Belmar and truly care about the direction this town is moving in ? Sometimes it’s not just about money.
“When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.” ~Socrates
You might assume that the businesses not
mentioned do not live in town and some that are mentioned do and might and do not.
Ah what evil webs we weave.
brendan view is what it should be called not Belmar view
Does anyone but me notice that the listing posted by Mr. Creamer in #4 above happens to be dated October of 2013, not 2014. This listing is 15 months old, why is this issue be drudged up at this point if it is not to promote the continuing division within the community. Enough already this is an old story and should be put behind us.
Yes Mr. Burke everyone notices that. What does that matter ?
Is this the same Tom Burke who is in agreement with the 2 comments regarding the post about legislation introduced to curtail messenger ballot fraud but yet, at election time this past year you had many things to say about Jim Bean and the actions he took to try and stop the abuse of this type of voting here in Belmar ?
Yep anonymous, one in the same…..and I had things to say about the actions, not specifically Jim Bean, and those action speak much louder than the words that get posted here, including my words.
I don’t believe there is a concerted effort by local Republicans to boycott town businesses. I do find it ironic, however, that comments posted on this blog (regarding this matter) cry slander and cowardice. Really? The most insulting remarks of the past (and sometimes present) allowed on the blog are done so anonymously. Speaking of slander, some of the past remarks permitted border on libelous. Don’t take my word for it-go back to the archives…..perhaps those who are outraged by recent happenings should let the administrator know that you don’t support his indifference to insulting, anonymous remarks. Maybe we should all get on board with the same message for all:STOP posting comments that you wouldn’t want someone to write about you or a family member. In doing so, you will be contributing to a more positive community atmosphere….. this would hold true for all blogs….not just this one.
The Belmar View has not produced any proof of the so called “Republican” boycott. If one poster suggested a Boycott in the past would you then say it was part of a larger “Republican” plan? I would hope not.
And it wasn’t even a Republican.
For Cathi-If you’re referring to me-no-I would not…. see the first part of my commentary…..
Sorry Tom #15…
2013 is the latest list of businesses victimized by politics that I have …. I haven’t looked at 2014 campaign contributions …. the whole matter makes me sick because the burden is ultimately paid by the consumer.
Claire, no I wasn’t referring to you. It was in response to Belmar View’s suggestion.
Not everyone who signed that letter was “more than happy” to do it!
I heard that too.
What exactly does lets keep Belmar moving forward mean????
Thanks, Belmar View, for alerting me about the boycott. I’m joining!
