The Mayor’s Drone

No, I’m not referring to any member of the Council, I’m talking about a real drone.  He posted a video taken with it to his newly created You Tube page:

I don’t know if I would call it viral or anything but it has collected over 1300 views so far, apparently even from people in Lebanon (not Lebanon NJ or PA. The original Lebanon.)

Speaking of YouTube view counts, the video from Tuesday night is already the forth most viewed Council meeting on my site and probably in a few more hours will be number three:260237207youBTW, You Tube only counts a visit as a view if you watch a certain percentage of the video.  (They keep the percentage secret.)  Since most of us who watch these videos skip the first half of the meeting, I think most visits aren’t captured in the view count.  I wouldn’t be surprised if the actual visits were multiples higher than the official view counts.

I do not like drones, see them as potential trouble. One could knock a bird out of the sky, after all. Beware, endangered piping plovers on Belmar beach!

I cannot remember the date of the Council meeting. Pretty sure it was last year, when Gene ( I have been banished from meetings ) Creamer recommended to the mayor ( dictator) and Council ( idiots ) to pass an ordinance regarding flying drones in Belmar. The mayor’s drone flew over my home last month and Ted Bianchi gave me 4 construction violations. One was for not having the correct/ an approved VOTE FOR NICOLAY sign on my lawn.

You know all that sand they pushed off the beach and into the dunes makes it that much easier for the ocean to cover the beach.

If they show pictures or videos of the ocean being stopped at the dunes it may well possibly be that the ocean reached that point because we cleared a path for it.

The ocean gets dunes, news and drone coverage while down here in Rhode Island point-no flood remediation at all! No news or drone coverage-nothing! Just a code red call saying to expect flooding and detours on Route 35. In the years spent fighting and wasting money over the 5th Avenue pavilion we could have work done at the L Street Beach that would have mattered much more. ALL of Belmar’s residents deserve respect and protection!

FYI, its illegal to fly a drone according to the FAA. If you fly a drone and post the video on youtube, being caught could cost you a 10k fine. Just sayin…

The mayor provides proof that the $1+M lifeguard tower at 10th Avenue Pavilion is obsolete before construction …. replaceable by remote sense technology with superior capabilities …. better functionality at lower cost.
Forget the manned tower …. mount a smart ptz webcam atop the Mayfair and we all could watch the beach for FREE!

I suggest they do what Bradley Beach did. Use discarded Christmas trees to construct dunes. It’s only been a couple of years since they started and they have good dunes already.

Ms Pringle, your neighbor Claire has Matt’s ear, perhaps she would like to represent the neighborhood in hopes of a solution to the flooding problem. The south end had to start a group to be heard, so you’re already one step ahead, with Claire on your side!
All neighborhoods matter, and the majority of people in town realize that. It’s good for everyone if people’s homes don’t flood. Unfortunately, unless you agree with the representation, you are wrong, and possible banned from future council meetings.

Pavilions, not people. When the mayor, on the phone with someone on NJ channel 12 news this morning, said he was concerned with coastal flooding, I almost spilled my coffee laughing. So, how is that Lake Como pipe project going? Must be hidden by a Klingon cloaking device.

Kudos to the DPW. They did a great job. Is there any way to get the word out to residents or visitor who are not registered with the Red Alert system to get their cars off the streets? There was a declared State of Emergency in time. Could the CERT team go door to door with flyers like the police have done with meeting notices? Or maybe we could use the Community police captains again ?

Yesterday the Kinsella boys dug out our house and car and today first thing I got a call from a neighbor who saw Mitchy quietly doing our steps and sidewalks again just in case of an emergency. Then this afternoon Jerry Lawrence quietly came over and widened our paths.

Around 2pm we got the car out with Mitch again helping as soon as he saw Jimmy shoveling and then a saint did the street pathway.

Thanks pals and good souls. Jimmy & Noreen
